Morning Person/Night Person… Which One Are You?

A morning person.
That’s me, most definitely. I’m the annoying one, bouncing around (without coffee, I’ll have you know!) first thing in the morning!
morning night
And it’s a good thing too, as my Hubby Dearest is definitely the opposite… A true Night Person.
He’s not great with alarms.
So it’s a good thing I am.  Because we have kids. And they seem to think that 6am is the right time to wake, every morning, or Lil Man at least! (And Lil Princess, in the holidays… really?! The struggles to get her to wake in the term time are unreal, yet in the holidays, 6.15am… why?!)
So breakfast is done, they are settled, and any bickering is dealt with by calm, rested mummy. If Daddy is roused, there is not a particularly patient parent there…
However, come 7pm, and mummy is getting tired.  Mummy can’t quite cope with the constant bickering. Mummy, shock horror, shouts! And in steps angel Daddy, to sort the problems out calmly, with no raised voices.
Hang on a minute, I was meant to be the Good Cop! When did the Baddie change places with me?
Good Bad
It got me thinking though.
This whole Good Cop/Bad Cop parenting thing.
We aren’t ever really just one of them, are we? Well in our household, there is definitely a personality change in Hubby Dearest and me, partway through the day!
And it directly correlates with our sleep patterns.
I sleep early because I am shattered from a busy day. I wake early, and refreshed, so I can be patient. Hubby Dearest sleeps late, and rouses himself later than me too, so he is at his prime, later in the day.
So I get Good Cop duty in the morning, and he is most definitely Bad Cop if he is woken up, and I morph into Bad cop by the evening, when my patience has worn very thin, but because he has had no kids to deal with in the day, and has woken later than us, Hubby Dearest switches to Good Cop!
So, which are you? Morning/Night Person? Good Cop/Bad Cop?

I’m a night owl by nature. But my life schedule means I’m up at 4:30am so I’m not a happy camper. Caffeine is definitely my best friend. Going to the gym before work also helps wake me up and get me in gear.

    Night owl, fersure.
But I think my husband and I alternate with the good cop/bad cop business. I am mostly bad cop.

I’ve always been a morning person. Like you, I can be bouncing around without any coffee. Although I don’t really like coffee, preferring instead, Tea.
My creative mind is also best in the morning. Night time is for sleeping and that’s what I do then – sleep.
However, I did write one of my short stories late at night (after a few glasses of wine) and the story ended up freaking a lot of people out. 😀😱 Maybe I should give it another go?

I’m not really big on sleep which is why I do both late nights and early mornings but…. the post prandial power nap is becoming something of a standard…

I’m definitely a morning person, I’m pretty hopeless most evenings though there have been exceptions! Sunshine makes me more lively. As to good cop, bad cop, I’d say on the whole I’m pretty easy going, a good cop – nothing much phases me, but if the kids cross over the invisible line then boom bad cop makes a temporary appearance and they know it!

I’m up early for work, so definitely a morning person. Even on weekends I’m up early, just use to it.

I love to be up early but it varies from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m. I hate to miss the early morning calm. Of course I have no children at home so that makes a difference. An early morning kayak ride is so calming. But I do stay up till 10 p.m.. Then it is bedtime for sure. Love the morning and my coffee.

You are so not alone in this one, Ritu. After a lifetime of waking up at 5 am, husband realized in retirement, he is really a night person ! Shock to us both. I’ve always been that over-zealous early a.m. person who annoys all those around me. ☺☺☺

Despite my many attempts to be hardcore rock n’ roll, I’ve never been able to sleep very late. Yes, morning person for sure!

I am in bed around 10:00am… and up around 5:00am. I guess that answers your question but, you know, I can get so much done between 5:00am and 8:00 (when the rest of the house starts moving around!) 🙂

I am most definitely a night owl ( hence my blogs name). If I didn’t have to function during the day, I would sleep it away and find my joy in the night hours. Of course, I wouldn’t see the beauty of God’s day, if I did this, so I am up in the late morning to catch the glowing light. I am both, good cop, bad cop. I’m usually the disciplinarian while hubby dearest prefers to be the referee lol. I’m short on patience so if angered, look out. But I will also give you a chance to explain. ☺️

I’m a night owl, forced to have to be a morning person because of kids and that pesky need to work. As for parenting, I’m usually the good cop. But I can get to bad cop in mere seconds.

I would love to be able to burn the candle both ends myself …..if I had the energy.
I am better at night owl than early bird. I also have a tendency towards sleeping dog as well.

I’m a morning person given this inner need to get work stuff done early before others start rolling in.
