Tuesday is Flash Fiction Foray by Matt The Book Blogger!
Today’s prompt song…
Yesterday Once More – The Carpenters
Feel free to base responses of anything to do with the song, I always enjoy any different takes! 100 words! Make em count!
And my entry…
Looking at all those happy faces in the photos, Edith smiled to herself.
Vera, Rose, Lizzy, Isabel and her.
That was her favourite snap, the five of them on the promenade in Brighton.
A day trip away from the confines of the city. They were so happy, ice creams in hands, holding onto hats that were threatening to be blown away by the sea breeze…
She closed her moistening eyes.
That was 65 years ago.
She was the only one left.
No amount of wishes would bring her friends back, but she couldn’t help wishing it was yesterday once more…

1952 then. A whole different world indeed. You got the names just right! Sad reminiscence for Edith, sad story for us…

Wonderful, Ritu…so emotional with so few words – the unwritten story of the girls lifetime unspoken but strongly present. The other day my mother was writing up her contacts from an old address book when she called. She was quiet and then said it struck her how many on those pages of telephone numbers and addresses are no longer with us.

It does hit you more when you see your own parents feeling like that…
Thank you Annika😊

Thank you sis! It reminded me of the little old folk in the care homes. …
And especially the Alzhimers patients who live in the past. …

Oh my, that is even more poignant knowing that as the background thoughts of your story.
