Here is Lara’s latest installment!

Just Friends – Part 18
It had not been easy to get Neil off the phone, but she had managed by promising to meet him later, for a coffee, so they could talk.
Christian had waited patiently, as Lara ended her call.
“Give me a second Christian, I just need to get changed,” Lara said as she edged out of the living room backwards.  It was easier to pull the tee shirt down at the front… she wasn’t taking a chance of flashing her bottom, dimples and all, at him.
As she went to her room she heard him say “I don’t mind what you’re wearing now…”
She didn’t want to look like a total skank, so instead of grabbing the nearest tracksuit, she rummaged in her wardrobe and found a decent jumper dress. Pulling on a pair of opaque tights, she went back to where Christian was perched on her sofa, croissants still in their bag, in his hand.
“I’m sorry to disturb you early Lara, but I was passing by and thought I might drop in, and that bakery around the corner, well, what a great aroma coming from there! I couldn’t help myself! I hope you haven’t had breakfast.”
“Really? You were just passing by here, on a Sunday morning, the other side of town to where you live?”
Christian coloured. “ I was never good at making stories up… no, actually, I wanted to come and see you.  I had such a great time last night, and we’ve wasted all these years… I thought, why wait? And, so, here I am. The croissants bit was true, though! I actually had this for you, “ he pulled a single flower, a rose, from his jacket pocket, and handed it to her, “but then I smelt those croissants. They smell divine! And I couldn’t help myself!”
Taking the flower, Lara put it to her nose to inhale the scent. “Thank you, Christian, that is so sweet! No one has ever done something like that for me.” She went to the kitchen to put the bloom in a cup of water, and grabbed two side plates, and flicked the kettle on. “Tea? Coffee?” she shouted through.
They settled down on the sofa with their little breakfast and started to chat about the concert the night before.  Glancing down, Lara realised that she had put an old pair of tights with a huge ladder. She adjusted her dress, but it wouldn’t cover the tear.
She decided that it would be much better to sit with her legs tucked under her, and she reckoned that she would look pretty cute that way too. Settling back, she lost her balance and ended up rolling into Christian.
He took this as an invitation, and before she knew what was happening, they were kissing again.
That feeling of being a teenager again came about her, as they made out on the sofa.
It could have led on to something much more adult, but that was when Mel decided it was a good time to surface.
“Morning,” she yawned at the figures on the sofa as if seeing her flatmate mid-snog was a normal thing. Then it clicked. She stopped, took a couple of steps back, and stood there, mouth wide open.
When she realised what a fool she looked, she giggled and grinned at Lara. “Oops! Sorry for disturbing you!” and snuck back to her room.
The moment was lost.
They separated, a little embarrassed at the situation. “Your drink’s gone cold. I’ll go make a fresh one.” Lara got up to go, and Christian grabbed her wrist.
“No, leave it for now.  I do actually need to be somewhere. I have a class in half an hour… not that I want to go. Maybe we could grab some dinner later?”
She was ready to agree to anything just then, but suddenly she remembered that she had to meet Neil later, and listening to him earlier, it wasn’t going to be a quick chat. She had already fobbed him off on the phone, she couldn’t do that again to him…
“Tonight’s not great for me, I need to catch up with Neil about a few things, and it may take time.  Call me in the week, and we can arrange something.”
“Ok, sweetheart, as you wish.” He swooped in for a quick peck on the cheek.
As he left, Mel popped out of her room. “Gone? OMG! You and the hottie Christian! So, it was obviously a success then, last night! Did he stay?”
“Yeah, it was a good night, and no he didn’t stay! What do you think I am!?!” But she smiled as she said it. Mel knew what she was like, and there had been few dates since they had been flat-sharing.
They spent a while dissecting every moment of the night before, and the morning after too. It could have gone on longer, but Lara needed to get ready to meet Neil.
It felt like she had been sat there for hours, but only 20 minutes had passed. Neil had turned up and was lamenting his fate as ‘Mr. Mya’ and Lara tried hard to make the soothing noises that she knew he wanted to hear, but her mind was wandering, in the direction of Christian.
She looked at Neil hard, as he poured his heart out to her, trying to sympathise, when she noticed something. There was a wart, on one of his fingers. How had she never seen that before?  The conversation went on, and she was fixated. It was huge! In fact, it seemed to have a personality of its own!
Suddenly she felt his hand grasp hers and his face drawing closer and she jolted back to the conversation.
“… it makes me think I would have been better off with you, not her…”

That’s another great cliff-hanger of an ending, Ritu. I’m really enjoying all of these characters and their stories. This would certainly make a great serial in a magazine or even on the TV. Keep those wheels rolling.

OMG, Sis! Now you have me worried! That is the worst, ending a story like that…. one week of nail-biting ahead now! Like watching a series on TV and hoping it would go into the direction you wish for….. Sis, this was so very romantic. The talk and situation between Christian and Lara was so beautiful. My heart was melting. You describe Christian and the ultimate teenage dream 😍
