FRIDAY FICTION with RONOVAN WRITES Prompt Challenge #30-Favorite Song

It’s past Friday… I’m late again this week! Damn me actually having a life!

But still, the prompt has come, from the lovely Ronovan, so I need to get my skates on and see what is happening with Lara!

Friday Fiction with Ronovan Writes Challenge

  • Word Count is off! Let’s focus on the theme of the thing. Not many actually stick to the word count anyway. (SUGGESTED-No more than 500 if you want to try that.)
  • Using the prompt of ‘Favorite Song’, WRITE. Use your Favorite Song as inspiration for your fiction. Maybe it’s the title for it or maybe it appears in the story in some way? (REQUIRED)

Please, any feedback is gratefully received!

Just Friends – Part 21
Thursday evening. It was a date.
Lara had texted Christian and suggested they book in that ‘dinner’ as soon as possible. After the bath scenario, she needed to see him again… maybe that daydream had been some sort of premonition of what would happen, and she couldn’t wait to find out!
She would have been happier if it had been sooner, but Christian  had classes, so she had to make do with waiting a few days.
Still, that meant plenty of time for saucy messages to be exchanged, to build up anticipation, and she also had 4 days to miraculously lose 10lbs or buy the most amazing outfit to make her look sylph-like, and svelte. Something that made her feel sexy and confident.
“This is soooo not like you Lar!” Mel chimed as she wandered into Lara’s bedroom on Monday night. Clothes were strewn all over the bed, and Lara was standing in front of the mirror in what was usually her go-to date dress… but it just wasn’t cutting it.
Mel picked up a scrap of chiffon that was masquerading as a rather tiny dress, “Which part of you is this supposed to cover??” She giggled. “Wow, Lar you got it bad, eh! I swear you were never like this with Neil! But then I’ve got to admit, Christian is a hottie!”
“I know! God Mel, I feel like a teenager, seriously! But I don’t know what to wear!” Lar sank down on her bed. “ I think I need to go shopping!”
Thursday night approached with alarming speed. Lara hadn’t had the time to shift those excess pounds, but she had managed to find a particularly flattering dress, that clung in all the right places, and forgivingly didn’t in all the places that those lumps and bumps seemed to live. Beautiful lingerie, (no sucky in pants, thank you very much! Could you imagine the reaction to those, if they were to get to that particular level of intimacy?! They would take half an hour of rather unattractive contortions to get out of!) just in case.  She had just stepped out of the shower and was off to get ready when the doorbell rang.
There was still a good 2 hours before she was due to meet Christian, and Mel was at the gym. She wasn’t expecting company. Who could it be?
The bell rang again, sounding a little more urgent now. Followed by some rather intense banging.
“Open the door you little hussy!”
A screech came through the wood of the door. Lara looked through the peep-hole and saw she-devil Mya standing there,
What?! Hussy?!
What was she going on about?
Lara had a good mind to ignore her, she had much more important stuff to get ready for, and she turned to go back towards her room when there was another barrage of knocking, and some more unintelligible shouting.
Damn, she would have to let her in, the neighbours would kill her otherwise! It’s no fun having a banshee screaming in the corridor of your block of flats.
Lara opened the door, ready to invite her in, but there was obviously no need for an invitation here, as Mya swept in like a whirlwind.
“How dare you? I thought we were friends! I always knew there was something, but after everything you did for me, I thought I was just getting oversensitive, but no, I was right, I should have listened to my heart…” She babbled on and on, and Lara’s head started to spin.
She held her hands up at Mya. “Mya, stop! What are you going on about? I am just getting ready to go out, I haven’t a clue what you are yabbering on about!”
“I know!” She spat at Lara. “ I know everything!”
“Sorry? Know what exactly?” Lara looked at her, confused.
“Mine! He’s mine, Neil is MINE! Who do you think you are, trying to take him away from me?! The boy is MINE!”
There was a truly crazed look in this girl’s eyes. Lara started to fear for herself. Where the heck was Mel when you needed her?!
“Listen, I don’t know what you are trying to imply Mya, but there is nothing between me and your Neil! We are friends, and as it happens, I am off out on a DATE, with SOMEONE ELSE, so, if you don’t mind…”
Then she stopped.  Mya looked at her, and the look turned from deranged to hopeless. Her shoulders sank, and she leant against the wall and slipped down against it, and started to wail.
“But he doesn’t love me anymore…..”
As Mya’s sobs wracked her body, Lara looked on. Why her? Dear God, every time, when things were looking up, why did you have to throw in a curve ball??!!

Inspired by one of my many favourite songs, “The Boy Is Mine” by Brandy and Monica!

I keep thinking what can possibly go wrong next, and then you go and tell me!
Something I need to pick up on is did Mel know about Lara and Neil? I thought nobody knew other than Lara and Neil? Or have I just forgotten about one part of the story?

There hasn’t been a written part to show a conversation between Lara and Mel about what Neil said… it could have happened. ..
But who knows what Neil has gone home and said to Mya??!!
      Glad you’re still gripped Hugh! !! 😀😀😀

Well, that’s the six-four thousand dollar question – how has Mya found out about Neil and Lara? Or, maybe she thinks it’s Lara? Maybe she doesn’t know who it is and maybe Neil is doing the dirty with somebody else?
Oops! Now I’m thinking way ahead, but isn’t that the signs of a thoroughly good read? 😀
