FRIDAY FICTION with RONOVAN WRITES Prompt Challenge #32-Betrayed.

Friday’s prompt, on a Saturday again! Sorry! Life has a habit of getting in the way, but do not fear, Lara is here!

Friday Fiction with Ronovan Writes

  • Word Count is off! Let’s focus on the theme of the thing. Not many actually stick to the word count anyway. (SUGGESTED-No more than 500 if you want to try that.)
  • Using the prompt of ‘Betrayed’, WRITE. Who betrayed who? (I don’t like using whom. :P) What was the betrayal about? (REQUIRED)

Catch up with Lara’s story here.

Whether you have followed the back story, or you are joining me for the first time, please leave me some feedback. I am seriously considering doing something bigger with this story line that Ronovan helped me ‘give birth’ to, and anything, constructive or otherwise, would help me greatly!

Just Friends – Part 23
Mel rushed into the flat, closely followed by Amit, who she had bumped into, on the way home. Mel grabbed Mya, and then Amit had to go grab Mel.
“Let go of her girlfriend! You don’t want to get done for GBH, do you?!” Amit steadied Mel, and then put himself between Mya and Mel. Lara was just stood there in a daze, wine still dripping from her fringe.
“What the heck is going on here?” Amit enquired, “the last thing I heard was you were off on a hot date with Mr Flexi-Sexy man, and I was on my way here to make sure you were dressed right. I know what your clothing choices can be like Lar! And we walk into this?”
He turned to Mya. “Why are you here? What on earth were you doing, bitch fighting my girl? After all she’s done for you?!”
Mya seethed. “Done for me? Done for me? I’ll tell you what she’s done for me, she’s trying to steal my man! You know, my friends told me to be wary of Neil’s female best friend, but I never thought anything like that. I mean, look at her, look at me…”
Lara surreptitiously grabbed Amit’s wrist, aware that he was getting heated listening to the she-devil spouting off. He was capable of being the biggest bitch around, but one thing he couldn’t handle was anyone dissing his girls.
“… and then I trusted her with helping me propose, the engagement party. I really thought she was fast becoming my best friend too.” Hearing this, Lara blanched. Mya’s best friend? Er, no thanks! “But then she betrayed me! In the most awful way possible!”
Amit shook free of Lara’s hand and turned to her. “What is this pip-squeak on about? I thought you were off on a date tonight with Christian? Don’t tell me you…”
“No no no no no! God no, Amit!” Please don’t say another word, Lara silently added. Even though he knew of her original feelings about Neil, and Mya didn’t, he had a tendency to speak without thinking, and something that was dead and buried, in fact never even alive even, except in her head, might slip out, adding fuel to Mya’s imaginary fire.
He swung around to face Mya, ready to confront her on her ridiculous accusations, but Mel got in there first. Oh God… Lara put her hand to her forehead. God knows what she was going to do.
“Have you gone mad, Mya? Seriously, are you deranged? Why on earth would Lar even want to look at a guy like Neil when she has a sex GOD on call 24/7! I think you need to go back to whatever rock you crawled out of, to deal with your insecurity issues. And while you’re at it, why don’t you ask Neil? It’s not Lara that has a thing for your fiance, more like he is after my best friend!”
Well, that’s gone and done it, Lara thought.
Mya wailed. “Noooooooo! Whyyyyyyyy?! But Neil loves me! We’re getting married!”
Amit put his arm around Mya’s shoulder, and tapped it soothingly, “There there Mya, don’t worry, there has to be some misunderstanding, I think you need a drink, then go talk to him, there’s a good girl.” He walked her to the front door, and turned to Lara and winked.
“Oh ok, thank you Amit, where shall we go for …?” Bang! The door shut, with Mya on the other side, and Amit still in the flat, grinning at his friends.
“Really? You think I’m gonna go with her, when my main girl got a date to get ready for? Now, I don’t know what that was all about, but you are going to turn around, go back in the bathroom, and shower off the Eau de Chardonnay you have been sporting this evening.” He looked at his watch. “By my accounts, you have an hour to get yourself looking gorgeous and ready for your special night! Mel, you ready? We need to go check what she’s got ready to wear, you know what she’s like with her clothes. This is no time for Tom-Boy chic, we want all out Glamour Puss. That guy ain’t gonna know what hits him when he sees you!”
And with that, another crisis was averted by Super Amit. Lara relaxed under the shower, for the second time that night.  Maybe things would be ok…
