Walking My Way Fit!

Firstly, can I say a huge thank you to you all for liking and commenting on my post yesterday about my Weight Crisis?

I have been inundated with lovely words, and so much encouragement from you all, I feel I will make it! I will do this, slowly but surely.

I have decided I will do a weekly update, called Walking My Way Fit, as I have decided that this is going to be my main mode of physical exercise. I love to walk, and we have a playing field literally a minutes walk away from the house, with a marked running/walking perimeter. Perfect!

I have been really good today with my eating too, considering I had to start my daily nutrition late as I had to have a fasting blood test.

Seriously, though, the queue for the blood test was ridiculous! I got there early, hoping to beat the rest, but when I got there, the ticket number I pulled was 42! But in all fairness to the Phlebotomy crew, they whittled the patient number down pretty quickly, so I was able to get out and come home (after some sneaky shopping!) I bought one of those arm phone holder thingies, and a teeny tiny micro towel, as in this humidity, I do tend to glow/perspire/melt during any exertion!

I managed another walk, over 3km this time, and drank different herbal teas all day, or water, with sensible snacks. You can see my breakfast, above, and my salmon and greens dinner. I had a chicken salad for lunch.

So,  I’m not doing too badly, am I?!

I shall keep you updated, if you are interested, and see how my walking goes! Might even throw in a bit of hula hooping again too… that big old hoop keeps looking at me, saying “Come on, you know you want to wiggle those hips around!”

Until tomorrow, my wonderfully supportive Blogily! I appreciate each and every one of you! 🙂

Hi, have you got a fitbit? (Other step counting devices are available!) It is not so much the steps you record on a good day that do you good, but the steps you go out and do when you’ve not met your daily target. If you are thinking about getting one, then my hindsight is I wish I’d got one with a watch in it. I often end up wearing both and it looks naff. X

I love this! Good luck with the diet and exercise – it really is the only way to make change. And walking is wonderful, so good for you and also a great time to think. I’ve sorted out no end of plot conundrums on my daily walks! 🙂

Walking is not only great for you, it is highly addictive. I never have a day when I don’t walk at least an hour. If the weather is bad, I’ve found indoor spaces to get the walk.
One note…I had hit a plateau when I saw a tip that has made a difference for me. And it’s simple. When you get up in the a.m., drink as much water as you can stand…I get about 24 oz., before you eat or drink anything for breakfast. It cleanses your system, and jump starts all life processes. (Stay near a bathroom! ) ☺

Take it easy. I forgot to comment on the other post but what I wanted to say is don’t concentrate on weight but rather what you want to fit into and on feeling good inside. That should be the main criteria. Weight is actually a very wayward factor as when you exercise even if you are losing mass of fat you will weigh more.

Good luck Ritu! I use to walk an hour a day, five days a week. I lost 57 pounds in 10 months. Unfortunately for me now, I’m having foot issues, so I bought an indoor recumbent bike. It certainly gets harder to lose weight when you get older. Our 17 year old son lost 103 pounds in 9 months just by watching what he eats.

Thanks Tony! Fingers crossed they’ll be all clear, and the extreme fatigue I experience is due to my job and life, rather than a health issue! If it is then I am on the way to changing things!
If not, then we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it!

Good for you! I like walking too and am just getting back into the swing of it. I hate the fasting blood tests, though those used to get priority as rule. These days it’s all by appointment.

There weren’t even appointments! Just a good old ticket machine! A few people commented that fasting patients should be given priority, but to be honest I was seen within 15 minutes of them opening and actually taking samples!!
