Well, this is cool!
I decided that at nearly 2 years old, I would upgrade to the Premium WP package!
And not only will I be able to post videos easily, and have more media storage, something popped up, tantalisingly, to offer me my own domain name!
So as of now, I am no longer http://www.butismileanyway.wordpress.com, but I am simply http://www.butismileanyway.com!

Hahhaa! Yes and No. To a certain extend, for me yes. Especially when the gremlins come about and finding the right plugins. Plus lots more room to play and customised. For someone who is not very technical (like yours truly), that’s the “dark” side. 😉

LOL. Those are nifty stuff you install on your self-hosted site to expand the functionality of your. There are tons like Jetpack, Akismet, Image watermark, recipe cards…You’ll have fun with that I’m sure. Until you run into some code incompatibility issues!

I have always wanted to, but I am terrified I will not understand it. I am not tech in any way at allll. Plus..it wants my domain name to be ccchanel41 dot com…which many ppl know my blog by, but is not technically the name of my blog..hahaha..my blog name is too long…but I knew nothing of blogging when I named it..LOL!!

Really cool, Sis! I upgraded recently too regarding the storage situation. I was thinking about a new domain name. But since I want to keep it under my name I don’t have many options. Because erikakind.com is already taken by me for my website. So…. I will leave like this for now. But as soon as I have some more time I will go into the themes that are now included in my plan. Let’s see 😊

The only pitfall I came across was spending far too much time in trying out all the themes. When I did actually choose the one I now have and published it, there were lots of bugs such as social media links not working. However, I reported them all to the Happiness Engineers and they had them sorted out for me within a few days.

Congrats – and good luck! I did the noWordPressInMyDomain.com thing almost immediately. Unfortunately, like much about WP’s dot com platform, it doesn’t always work the way it’s supposed to – and their “Happiness Engineers” take a great deal of frustrating back and forth time out of my life for not much help.
The trickiest thing about it is commenting. Sometimes the “wordpress” part shows up as part of my domain name anyway – and I can no longer comment on non-WordPress blogs using my WordPress I.D. since I can’t figure out how to sign in with WordPress (never mind that I am ALREADY signed in). The error message keeps telling me that there is “no domain by that name” no matter which version I try.
On blogs that don’t offer Disqus (or one of the others, like OpenID), I can’t comment at all. If they tell you how to get it done right, please pop over to my blog and let me know.

Thanks, I’d love to know what’s up – and how to fix or work around it. Time is the one thing we can’t get more of, and it makes me crazy[er] 🙂 to spend mine Sherlocking things I can’t get fixed.
For what it’s worth, I still think I made the right decision about losing the WP part of the domain name – just frustrated that I don’t always get what I paid for.
I probably would have been better off with my own self-hosted domain to begin with. Even though I did my research, I didn’t really understand the dot com limitations when I began (or why plug-ins were essential for some things that widgets couldn’t handle).
I hated to move once people began to find the site. So it’s doubly disappointing when the dot com domain gets screwy and they don’t seem to understand at least why its important to search engines for the name to remain stable.

Well it is already in place Brother… it appears to have automatically changed! Just see if you are getting my posts then there is no problem.its not self hosted, just the domain name changed, as part of the premium package!
