Get To Know Me Tag

The other day Sandra invited me to take part in a Tag Challenge, and so I stored the email, ready to have a go. Then today my blog Sis Erika, decided to also name me as someone to answer this series of questions… so I figured I had better do it, now two people want to ‘know more’about me!

1. Who are you named after? I don’t believe I was named after anyone specific. But what I do know is that my name, Ratinder, was meant to be! It is a custom  in the Sikh religion for the parents to go to the temple after a baby is born. Prayers are done, and then a random page is opened in the Guru Granth Sahib (our holy book) and the letter that starts the first page is the letter that the baby’s name should start with. My parents already wanted to call me Ratinder, Ritu for short, but the rest of the family were expecting this tradition to be upheld. Pops went, and R came out, but his sisters didn’t believe him, so it was done again with one of his sisters as a witness, and lo and behold, R came out again. So you see, I was destined to be Ratinder/Ritu!

2. Do you like your handwriting? My writing never stays the same… I was like this as a child too, always experimenting with styles, so sometimes I hate it, and sometimes I love it, but can never keep it the same!

3. What is your favourite lunch meat? Chicken

4. Longest relationship? 20 years next month!

5. Do you still have your tonsils? No… they departed when I was 4! I still remember the hospital, and the cot my mum slept on to be with me. I remember the tomato soup I had to eat, and the fact that I could have untold amounts of ice cream to soothe the throat!!!

6. Would you bungee jump? I would love to try!

7. Do you untie your shoes when you take them off?  I only possess trainers with laces, and I have to admit I never tie or untie them unless they are really loose!

8. Favourite ice cream? Mint Choc Chip!

9. What is the first thing you notice about people? Their eyes and smile.

10. Football or baseball? Oh Lord, neither! Give me a good book anyday!!!

11. What colour pants are you wearing? Pants in the American sense or the British sense? I was wearing navy blue leggings today, (American) and dark peach pants (British!) 😉

12. Last thing you ate? Birthday Cake!

20170211_215813

13. If you were a crayon, what colour would you be? Lilac!

14. Favourite smell? Fresh baked bread

15. Who was the last person you spoke to on the phone? My mum ❤

16. Hair colour?  Brown at the moment, but naturally, black!

17. Eye color?  brown

18. Favourite foods to eat? Oh so many, Pasta, chocolate, Chinese, chocolate, Indian, chocolate… did I mention chocolate??!!

19. Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings definitely, but a good old scarefest once in a while is great!

20. Last movie you watched? Jenny’s Wedding – About a lesbian who needs to tell her strait-laced folks she’s marrying a woman!

h21. Favourite Holiday? I’m a teacher… if it says holiday, it’s my favourite!

22. Beer or Wine? Not a big drinker, but if I had to choose, wine is my tipple of choice!

23. Night owl or early bird? I’m afraid I do a bit of both… Naturally get up early, and am brighter then, but like to stay up late too!

24. Favourite day of the week?  Sunday. I have nothing to rush to, so can relax with my little family totally!

24 1/2. Which three of your favourite bloggers you would like to know more about? Rich, Judy, Syl

25. Who were the latest three people to follow your blog (link to their about page)?

The story behind your name is wicked awesome, Ritu! I love the idea of doing this for a blog post – I’ll have to add this to my list. Thanks for the inspiration! 🙂

I can’t tell you how jealous I am of your naming story, which is lovely. Not only did my parents name me after the month in which I was born, but they also didn’t think it through.

Lovely to learn a bit more about you.

Thanks Parul! It’s funny though… I couldn’t wait to start university where I could be known as Ritu from the beginning. I was always Ratinder, or Ratty, at school!!!

Loved reading this …. and no surprise that you are an experimentalist as witnessed by your handwriting …

Lol! I really can’t believe that at the age of 41, I still don’t really have a handwriting style I can stick to! In school I have to do cursive, it’s school policy, but it doesn’t stay with me all the time!
