Valentine’s Day is here. The reason this month has got all red, pink and fluffy! We’ve been bombarded with adverts, cards and flowers, deals on hotels and fancy meals, for the best part of two months at least, and now it’s here.

But hasn’t it all got far too commercialised?

It’s a great idea, to have a day to show your love, but that shouldn’t be the only day. If you love someone, you love them everyday, yet the businesses out there have cottoned on to the fact that there is huge money to be made out of days like today. If the other half doesn’t get a card, the Missus will be miffed, that sort of thing!

I, for one, never lose an opportunity to tell him that I love him. Every day. Today, for me is just an extra reason to shower him with a little extra love. But along with him, the love is showered on all my family and friends.

It can’t be a bad thing to spread love, can it? If only for a day, let there be love around the world. ❤

My Valentine

Today’s the day to profess my love
To coo to you, my turtle dove
The day I say how much I care
How to be with you I’d go anywhere

To shower you with kisses and hugs
Cuddly toys and romantic mugs
A bunch of roses, must be red
And propose that I think we should wed

But why today on St Valentine,
When every day I want you to be mine?
Everyday you change my life
For not one day are we husband and wife

Know my love will never end
Even when you drive me round the bend
A chance to celebrate, it’s true
The very fact that I love you

    What a sweet post. Yes, it is too commercialized, but I do love the day. The hearts, the flowers, balloons and candies all make me smile when I walk into stores. We always underplay it, just small treats to one another, or we share with whomever gets the treats… Hope you have a happy day, so glad I have met you. Cathi

    Lovely Ritu, your right we need to show our love every day and the whole thing is very commercialised these days. Strange we celebrate this day of Valentine that saints story is not very romantic a Roman priest Martyred for marrying a Christian. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Valentine. Sorry not being a meany, I did buy hubby a little gift and I got some roses. Have a lovely day Did 💖💕

    This is so very beautiful and I couldn’t agree more that we need to show our love in any way every day for the other one. Not because we think we should but because we cannot help it to let the other one know how much we love and treasure them!

    I totally agree. My Accomplice and I stopped exchanging physical Valentines’ gifts a few years ago. We opt for being kind, and making the little gestures that cost nothing but time, intent, and affection. Making fresh coffee; messages in bathroom steam, smiles and flirting, hometending…these are the fabric of our all-the-time love.

    For today I bring you a gallant man protecting the honor of a woman he’s sure he’s lost. That’s kind of romantic…
