“An eye for an eye makes the world blind.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Waking up to read more and more about the latest atrocities in London yesterday, fills me with a sense of fear.

What kind of world are we bringing our children up into?

And what lessons are we teaching them by retaliating?

Terror attacks around the world cause dread, whether large or small, and there are those who take the matters of ‘revenge’ into their own hands.

Without any facts.

That need to retaliate blinds them, and in the end they are no better than those terrorists.

What we need is peace and understanding in the world.

It’s a wish I know many people have, but even with the volume of us who want it, it never happens…because we aren’t the ones in power.

“A minority cause the anguish.
A minority seeks to exterminate the cause.
A majority wants to soothe the world…” – Ritu 2017

One day, will this dream of a safe future and world for our children actually come true?

What we must never forget that it is that not the majority of the world population causing pain, terror, and fear but single individuals… sometimes a group of them. So, the majority is peaceful and that majority needs to stick together in a loving attitude even more and instead of joining those individuals in their destructive behavior. I guess that is what we need to teach our children!

Kalyug. The iron age. Make the most of this unique jeevan (life) that has been granted. Look after your family and respect your loved ones and elders. Let’s maintain peace and tranquillity at home and the rest will take care of itself… We may never get another opportunity to walk this earth again and not sure that would be a good idea, so pray well and with heart to your respective God’s, that one day you may forever submerge.

‘Jagath tamasha ‘. World is a play..

It is a terrifying world we live in Sis, I am worried about our childrens’ future. I wish there was an answer to all of these atrocities, but it is definitely not retaliation!

An eye for an eye – Makes half this world’s population blind. So only half truths are identified and resolved.

We should teach our children that there are isolated people that do horrendous things… whether it be robbing banks, killing somebody as a result of drinking and driving, trying to scam you out of your savings, or exploding a bomb hoping that it will kill innocent people.
We should also teach them that there are millions of people who just want to live in peace and be “good neighbors! In contrast to what we might believe from the news media culture, we should teach our children that there is far more good in this world than bad. Sadly, good things rarely make the news… but they still happen on a regular basis and all around the world.
We should teach them, by example, that true peace can never come from violence.
We should also teach, by example, that all major religions emphasize compassion and understanding… and being nice to people costs nothing more than the thought… but offers huge rewards.

This is exactly what I talk to my kids about. My best friend is Muslim. I talk about the Minority thing… and all sorts. They are pretty understanding but it still scares me… part of being a parent I guess!

To answer your question: I doubt it. Humans can’t seem to learn from past mistakes, and we have NEVER been able to live together peacefully….for very long at least. It’s scary, to think about sending my kids out into a world that is full anger and hate and bigotry and vitriol. Hell, even the leader of my country perpetuates it. I, for one, am sick of it. 😒

So true Ritu! Terror surrounds us, we’re not safe anywhere. Even the countries which use latest technologies are suffering from terrorism.
