Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 119

“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an ocean; if a few drops of the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” – Mahatma Gandhi

Here is a truly apt quote Spidey has found, thinking back to the happenings of the past week, here in the UK.

I know it may seem a very idealistic way to think, but surely we need to have this positivity and not lose hope that humanity has failed…

Watching a clip from the news earlier, it cemented some of my thoughts regarding the whole terrorist thing.

Earlier this week there was a vigil in Manchester for the victims of this atrocious attack. A Doctor, who is Muslim, was being interviewed. Her husband is a specialist surgeon, and upon hearing about the blast, he forgot everything and rushed to the hospital to help. After 12 hours helping out, he came back exhausted but pleased he could help.

Later in the day they received phone calls from fellow Muslim friends saying that they wanted to attend the vigil but were scared to go as they felt their headscarves would make them targets.

Because people hear about ISIS and the Islamic Extremist groups that have been responsible for so many recent attacks, there is a vast amount of folk who tar all Muslims with the same brush.

But this is so not the case! The majority of Muslim people I know condemn all these attacks and hold no belief even slightly similar to the thoughts of these monsters.

Yet a mosque was attacked that day too.

Does this not make the revenge attackers just as bad?

We need to stay focused, stay positive, and realise that there is a small amount of folk out to ruin the lives of many, not a whole race, or religious persuasion.

On this note, I say have a wonderful Sunday Peeps, stay safe!

YES!! Our world is integrated, full of religion, colour, beliefs and dreams and it’s something to be proud off. Extremism is a small minority in any culture/religion, to condemn an entire group of people for the actions of a few is absurd and downright wrong. Terrorism has no religion and I continue to strive everyday to promote equality, unity and peace✊🏼❤️

It is wonderful the way that everyone pitched in to help in Manchester but sad that there are ‘revenge’ attacks going on which are also aimed at innocent people!

Thank you for sharing Ritu. The doctor’s actions spoke volumes. Here in Canada I have Muslim friends who are just as horrified and saddened by the attack. This is exactly what you are mentioning.

It is and always has been and probably always will be the case that people will judge the many by the few. Life is so sad and people are so full of revenge. We all need to stop and think before we act or open our mouths. Love and peace to all, Hugs Sis 💜

A completely agree with you, Ritu. Here in South Africa I have many Muslim friends and they are very kind and generous people. Most of them give extensively to charities, causes and the Gift of the Givers. You cannot condemn an entire religion because of an extremist faction – think about the very bloody history of Christianity in Europe. The Spanish Inquisition is just one period that springs to mind.
