I don’t do politics, me.
It’s always been a grey area for me. I haven’t read manifestos, or looked into parties beliefs too much.
But…
I have always voted. Whatever my parents were thinking was cemented into my system.
And it’s worked so far!
But this is the first year I have been totally flummoxed.
The party I would normally vote for… I’m not sure. The country is in such a mess, in so many ways, politically. And I see how much a wrong decision from us now, will affect us all, at every level, from family life, to work life, and with general worldwide issues too. Each party has at least one thing I 100% agree with, then there is are things I 100% disagree with too!
Who to choose???
So, I am heading off early today to go and place my vote… whichever way that may be!
And for those of you out there hedging bets, and not bothering to vote… DO IT!
Remember Brexit?
Many were unhappy with the outcome, because so many didn’t actually vote! It’s all well and good debating the pros and cons at home, but if you aren’t going to use your vote, why bother discussing!
It’s not just your future, it’s the future of your children too!

Voting is so important! My parents stressed it growing up and I make sure I do it. People believe their vote doesn’t matter. However, as seen in the US, it does.

Good for you for voting Ritu.
I sent mine off a few weeks ago. I agree that it is really important (even though my opinion always seems to be the opposite of the rest of the UK!)
I get that you don’t want to read the manifestos, but do you at least look at those websites that ask questions and work out which party aligns with your views? I always find those really helpful.

I udually gibe them half a glance… but I looked deeper this year and I used one of those websites too to see what I should vote for!

Yay. Good!
I think that makes a lot more sense than voting for a personality.
Anyway, it’ll be an interesting day. I’m not getting by hopes up though. 😦

I’ve always voted, too, thanks to parents who inculcated in me the importance of involvement in the responsibilities of citizenship.
I write to my Congressman (an idiot) and my Senators, too (smarter, but ideologically far from me), not because I hope to change their minds (they are bought by extreme right wing billionaires) but because I want them to know they are responsible to the citizens, not special interests.
Good luck with your vote, dear Ritu. As you know, a minority managed to manipulate the Electoral College arrangement we Americans are stuck with, and they put a scam artist, a flim-flam man with no scruples into the White House. Ugh!
We’ll survive it, but it will take generations to repair his harm! So, the worst you can do today is…what?! You can’t possibly match the magnitude of the errors of your American cousins. Can you? (Brexit aside…)

Lol! Doug.. depends on how many wallies who do have a clue turn out to vote for something they’ve been taught follow, rather than by using their own common sense. Misguided voters and those who don’t use their right to vote, are probably our biggest threat, not the politicians!

Sick of politics. Damned if we do, damned if we don’t. Like you, I don’t do politics but I do vote. My logic is, if you don’t vote, you shouldn’t have a say or complain about the status quo. We voted first thing. We’re personally screwed whoever gets in, but we still voted.

I am not into the UK politics at all, to be honest. But as you said, Brexit and the presidential election in the US showed that not voting mostly helps those who you don’t want at all!
