Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 145

“We can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.” – Ronald Reagan

What a beautiful thought!

Thank you, Spidey for channelling Mr Reagan today!

There are so many problems in this world and though many of us can offer solutions in conversation, we know that our words alone can’t make the changes.

So what if as your average citizen of the world, we can’t solve world poverty, or stop wars happening in other countries?

We can still do something.

There is always someone on your doorstep who needs help, who would show gratitude for any assistance,  be it a lift for your elderly neighbour, or a meal for a homeless person. You may be able to donate something to a family in need, or even donate your time to volunteer in a shelter or old folks home… See, it doesn’t always have to be financial help…

Rest assured that however small you think your contribution is, it would mean the world to the one receiving it.

Acts of kindness don’t have to be publicised either. It is great that there are these campaigns about Random Acts of Kindness, but why do them just so you get some recognition?

Help someone because you genuinely want to.

Make it a part of your everyday life, so it becomes second nature.

Have a Serene Sunday Peeps!

I was trying to explain the 7 connection idea to my daughter. Her statement was: Okay, connect yourself to a street urchin in New Deli, India.
My answer: 1) I am blog friends with a woman from India. 2) I believe her mother lives in New Deli. 3) I am sure she knows a street urchin. There, that’s 3 connections.
Point being – you don’t know what your actions, your help, to someone will reach out to. What if: you help a stranger whose father is best friends with the owner of a RX company. He tells him the story and the owner gives a free RX to a young man whose brother needs it to live. The brother now helps someone else who helps someone who knows a person who is important in a small government. That person makes a choice to stop a war or begin proceedings to do so. That’s 6 or 7 connections and reached across the globe! You don’t know.

Great Post Ritu. My thoughts immediately went a starfish story from long ago:

The Starfish Story: one step towards changing the world

Each one of us is capable of making a difference. To do nothing because “I am only one” is to help nobody.

It doesn’t even have to be a big thing. When someone asks you what time it is, or how to get someplace, give them what they ask for.

Everybody can do something to make this world a better place. If really everyone does, we will have it immediately!

Hallelujah! It should not be because you get recognition but simply because you can that you do something kind and we can all do something kind if we open our eyes and care to look around. Great quote from Ronnie and a lovely call to arms for you

I subscribe to this same thought process, Ritu. Do what you can rather than lamenting over what you can’t do.
