I am seriously in a state of shock this morning!
Is it really the last Monday of November?
Meaning that the next one is in DECEMBER?
Which means Christmas is kinda just around the corner?
And I have hardly anything ready for that day???
AND…
We only have one month left of the year?!?
Three and a half weeks left of school, so there will be a lot of squeezing Christmassy things in, alongside the usual learning. One week is practically blocked out for Christmas performances – There are four different ones, and each has two slots. The half week at the end is filled with panto visits and class Christmas parties!
So, that’s just TWO weeks of real learning time left, within which I also have a formal observation to fit in, AND I have to, along with my Eco Council partner, arrange a Toy Swap sale for the kids, AND not forgetting another Governors meeting to finish the term off!
EEK!!!!
And while I’m on the subject, of How the Flibbertygibbets Did That Happen?… Since when did my nine-year-old decide she no longer believes in Father Christmas?!
I hoped to have at least one more year of the letters to Santa, and the PNP videos to show her, before the reality that Father Christmas is really mummy and daddy sinks in!
Instead, the last couple of months have been littered with ‘present opportunities’ where she has shown us what she wants us to buy her for Christmas, because she just, you know, knows it’s us who buys the stuff, not the Big Fat Fella in Red!
I am not ready for this!
I still kinda believe in the magic of Saint Nick!
Okay… let me get my shocked-self ready for school now, but really….
HOW THE FLIBBERTYGIBBETS DID THAT HAPPEN?????

Hello…I saw something somewhere about a mother that was facing the fact that her son was close to realizing that Santa was just a myth, however she turned that into a teaching situation, I can’t remember exactly how it went, but she told him that it was his turn to take the roll of Santa, she explained that it would his turn to take “Santa’s” ideals, and find someone who is in need, and she will help him purchase a present and then he will sneak the present to the person he choose and he will remain anonymous, but in his heart he will learn about the feeling of giving. I remember she stressed the fact he could not let anyone know it was him. She also had the older brother help with it as he became a Santa a couple years prior. I wish I could find the article, and I wish I knew about this when my kids were small and coming to grips with the myth…this way it keeps it alive in there heart….just a thought….xxx Happy Holidays….kat

Thank you, Ritu!! Yes, how did that happen? Today at school I had the same shell shock. I took down the Halloween picture stories that were only up for two weeks, and also the big class decorated turkey. Now, we are planning holiday gifts for families, and activities centered around light. Where does the time go???

Yikes! Our formal observations are in January. I really try to stop and “take in” the little moments that are good. It helps soothe the soul at this crazy time.

I don’t know if it will help, but when my children started asking why they got more (or less) toys than another child or family, I merely told them that Santa makes and delivers the toys – we have to PAY him for that, so if we can’t afford it, Santa doesn’t make them…kept them hooked for, at least, 1-2 more years.

Sometimes it is just crazy how fast time flies. I have more or less everything together. And the things I don’t have… at least I know what. I had to plan and organize early because I am moving next week … you see why I am a bit stressed over all… lol!

Doesn’t believe in Father Christmas?! Umbunkum! He’ll be very upset; a very good friend of mine. Likes the odd sherry and confectionery pastry. Well in that case, playstations and xboxes don’t exist either, so start thinking of something else to put on your Christmas list young lady! X
