One-Liner Wednesday – #1LinerWeds – Feeling Old

“Children nowadays know nothing really = in my day we were  so different…!” – Lil Princess (aged 10!)

Talk about knowing how to make mummy feel old!

In my day?

We were talking about a lack of understanding and motor control in my nursery class in general, and when she piped up with that beauty from the back of the car, I was (almost) speechless!

Her ‘class’ were just generally much smarter, apparently, and they could “count up to 15. ya know!”

It made for an interesting conversation…

For Linda’s #1LinerWeds Challenge.

Haha! Although I do find, usually, that adults have a rose-tinted and utterly inaccurate view of what they could do at various ages (speaking as an old timer teacher, with an older-timer teacher mother who has worked since the early 70s, and a grandmother who started in the late 30s, now passed). My mother has even had to gently rebuke people and say “no, your daughter could not read a book aged 3, she recognised the pictures…”
Even my 4 year old insists she could ‘eat sandwiches’ when she was a tiny baby ‘not just bottle milk and mummy milk like those babies…’! I guess it’s human nature.

Yeah, its true what she said- they could count till 15 and read too. And her mummy’s generation could write and maybe sew too?
