#Blogmas2018 Ritu’s Blog Tips #11

Day 11

My muse, my tea my workstation!

Respond!

One of my biggest niggles, when a blogger whose post I have commented on doesn’t respond – AT ALL!

Going back to my last couple of tips, quality interaction is so important, when building up a solid reader base, and if you don’t bother answering or at least acknowledging the comments left on your post, it’s highly unlikely you will be attracting many followers.

The conversations I have had via my comments, or on other blogs, have strengthened my blog relationships with my followers, allowing me to get to know them as well as them to know me too.

That human touch makes all the difference.

An appreciation to those leaving thoughts on your words.

I read, and write A LOT.

If you are following me, you know that.

My saviour is my WP app on my phone.

When I have a moment, I log in, and browse my reader and all my notifications, attempting to answer them all as the day unfolds.

If I know I can’t give all my attention to the comments then, I wait until the end of the day, and spend time responding, genuinely, to all who bless me with a visit to my blog, and leave comments.

Some schedule their time to respond weekly.

It’s up to you, but make sure you do!

Well said! I still have trouble convincing my blog that not every comment is spam, but I do appreciate that people try. That said, if I’ve ignored a comment from you, I’m truly sorry. It was certainly not intentional.

Again, it is a giving and taking. Btw. the WP app is not always working on my phone. After replying to a few comments it shows a different comment than I clicked on and only shows that one comment no matter what I click on. Really irritating. That’s why I can only use the app in a limited way 😕

Great advice for a novice blogger. Thank you. I feel equally disappointed when I do what I think is a great post and no one views it 😂

      There is that!!!
I found a few posts of mine at the beginning which I was proud of,that didn’t get the exposure… Then I relaunched them when my following was higher and it got the attention I hoped for!

What’s the focus of your blog? Ultimately what do you want to get out of it? Sorry for the random question. For me it’s nice to interact and have a voice. I know some people see it as a career. I’m just curious as to people’s motives?

I fell into blogging by accident!
It was a response to a friend’s first ever blog post.
I didn’t even know what blogging was!
After getting settled, I realised my creative urges were pulling me. It dress me to write more, reach out to others in a heartfelt, honest way.
I don’t have a niche at all, it’s random ramblings, poetry and stories!!!
Since blogging I have released and published a poetry book, and a long ago started novel has been completed! Hope to publish soon and my blog and its established base, I hope, will help.me with promoting it!!!
But it is still a hobby, not a career. 😊

That’s fantastic and inspirational- thank you! I have always loved writing and have nearly finished a book about my adoption reunion story so maybe I will be inspired to finish it.

I might be catching up for a week, but I do respond! This is very good advice, because it’s a big mistake when made.

Absolutely! Isn’t that the point of blogging – to create a community! My personal development blog is self-hosted now and I no longer receive notifications when people post a comment (if they’ve been approved before) so I have to physically check and not rely on a ‘ping’ on my phone. It’s only polite to respond when someone has taken the time out of their busy day to read your post and leave you their thoughts. You are AMAZEBALLS at commenting and responding, Ritu xxx

You just have to try and keep on top of them!
And I’m the same with guest posts. I have to keep checking to see if anyone has commented where I might have featured, so I can thank and acknowledge the !
