Tuesday Poems For Writers #Inspiration – Self Doubt

Another poem inspired by Lucy of Blonde Write More! The fear of not being good enough.

Fear
Within
I just feel
Not good enough
For publication
Not able to compete
Or call myself a writer
No one will want to read my book
When others are just so much better
I think I should just delete the whole lot

Ritu 2019

It really is that easy to end up feeling despondant, when you have worked your fingers to the bone, written thousands upon thousands of words, then you compare yourself to another writer.

Big mistake.

Stop thinking you’ll never be the next J.K. Rowling or Stephen King.

They were where you are now, once.

Dream of the possibilities and know that somewhere out there, your book has readers, just waiting for you to get it out there!

Now, I’m off to try and edit a bit more!

Awesome text! Maybe you should strive to be yourself more than feeling the pressure to become like someone else like J.K. Rowling, she is great but so are you:)

Such a beautiful reminder as there’s a beginning to every new thing in your life as being mother to the first born is also a beginning to any female and yes for writer there’s a beginning to get readers but if writer is female its universe blessings and believe is by default ….thanks much for beautiful reminder

Every writer is a beginner at some point and Believing in yourself is definitely a much needed skill. Thank you for the reminder!

@ritu mam thanks a lot for this post.
I have a big problem of comparing myself to others, whenever I start a new hobby I always look for the negative sides of it, But I’m gonna change it soon.

I’m feeling exactly this. I’m starting my author website next week, to help promote, but I have lots of self doubt about whether it will ever be good enough to publish.

I’m sure Ritu, that your book will be great!

The best advice I ever received came from Mom when I opened my restaurant and had second thoughts. She said, “Be yourself, it’s enough.”
Oh yeah, and, “Open the doors so they can come in!” lol

Thanks Ritu, YOU never need worry about the quality of your writing! Thinking we are not good enough, seems to be the lot of artistic people, and let’s face it, you can’t possibly please all the people all the time…I write the best way I can, and hope it is acceptable, even enjoyed now and then. Taste is so subjective anyway. I worry about it less than ever these days, aware I at least try. Hugs x
