A Wee Wait
“I know you’re desperate dear, but I’m afraid, you’ll have to wait. They’re all desperate.” Mrs Brown turned around, indicating the long line of children stretching to the end of the corridor.
“But Miss, I can’t wait!” Millie hopped from foot to foot, performing a toilet dance typical for a child, crotch clutched as if that was all holding a possible flood from occurring.
The queue moved down one.
“Just get to the back of the line, Millie.”
“I can’t.”
“Why on earth not?”
Millie looked down at the puddle slowly forming.
“Oh dear. so you really couldn’t wait!”
But I Smile Anyway...

This is good. Reminds me of 2nd grade. We had a bathroom in class but were told to ask first. I felt sick. Teacher was talking to a student, I waited politely until I could not. I threw up on her! Then went home and later found out I had strep I so believe.

Lol. She wasn’t a very nice teacher, at least I didn’t think so then. But it was me who decided I ought to stick to the rules and wait. Looking back, yeah I think we all know what I should have done. 🙂

I was once a camp counselor and someone called a kid on his bluff – and, of course, lost. Never question a kid when they say they need to go, haha!

I remember my Mum being in hospital and I was looked after by an ‘aunty’ friend. I had an accident, and the first thing I told my Mum when she got out of hospital was that Aunty had smacked me. Mum was angry, especially as it had not been my fault because I couldn’t reach the door handle to the toilet.

I was only about 3, but I still remember it. Aunty was cleaning the outside loo so I couldn’t use that one, and upstairs, the door was closed.

As we grow old, many of us will be like that child. During travels, Bathroom stops will be more frequent.
Last December during our trip to Las Vegas etc., around sevem pm, I saw a twenty something doing that dance behind me. Many on the long line gave up all hope and went in search of greener (I mean darker) pastures (and believe me not all males).
