Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 231 – Dreams

If you’re tired, learn to rest, not quit.

Anon

Yes, indeed.

Thanks for that Spidey.

I think he’s trying to remind me that it is my holidays and I need to rest up as well as getting things ready for next year!

So I shall take the advice of the quote above, and not overdo things the next few days.

It is rest time.

I’ll try not to pop into school any more (though I can’t promise!) I’ll lie in, in the mornings, and try and edit a little every day.

Well, that’s the plan.

You never know what life has in store for you!

So… tell me, do you know when it’s time to step back and rest?

It sounds like a good idea, but probably takes a lot of practice. I like practice, it seems like it should be relaxing.

It took me a long time to learn, but I have become accustomed to the Spanish siesta.

I have yet to find a reason to rest. Not tired, I guess. My wife compares me to a shark. Always swimming so I don’t suffocate.

It is hard at times but we have to take our foot off the gas pedal to just breathe for a bit.

Haha, I think I know when it would be time to rest. The problem is that I can only rest in skipping what I actually would love to do (not what I have to do). Because that is always in the second row… and that’s why I often ignore the voice which tells me to rest… lol

As I approach the fall semester, my first impulse is to step up the pace and get ready, like you. However, after a semester and a summer off (I THOUGHT I was ready to retire–I was WRONG!) I need to rest up for the demands of working again still living in this 74 year-old body! So, Spidey’s advice to me this morning is the best I could receive. TY!

I think it’s really important to try to get some rest too – burnout isn’t good for anyone. I tried to do too much the first two days of my maternity leave and I made myself ill. Now Elsie is here I’m trying to accept that I can’t do everything in one day so I’m just doing little bits as and when I can and that’s ok. I need to be able to rest too.

What is leisure? Our bodies and souls in a state of pleasure whether through activities that entertain and educate or a restful state. I think you’ll find your rest in completing what you want for your class and sitting back to admire it in its perfect state.

I suppose, Ritu, it also boils down to what we each regard as leisure and restful activities. I find baking, fondant art, blogging and reading restful. Writing adult novels less so but still more relaxing than work [except for Lisa who can’t make a decision – hahaha]

      This is true too.
Many can’t understand how I do all in my usual life, and find time to blog and write too, but my writing is my stress relief and my joy. Some go to the gym. I go to my keyboard! My tummy may wobble, but my fingers are fit!

To avoid negative stress, it is a good idea to learn our limits for energy.
I do step back, when I feel, that I need a break, but I also learned this at the hard way. Not worth trying for yourself, Ritu.
