Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 238 – Friends

img_00411

“A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.”

Bernard Meltzer

Cool quote Spidey!

I went out with some great friends on Friday night.

I don’t have the Buzz to my Woody here, locally. My BFF for the last 25 ish years… but I have a group of wonderful friends locally, The Tootie Frooties, and one of those is my other BFF.

We look out for each other, we laugh, we laugh together, and because our children are friends, we lookout for each others kids too.

We went to a comedy night, had a few drinks and ran late at the comedy night, but went for a quick meal afterwards. It was such a fun night, much needed after a long time without meeting up, sans kids!

My jaw ached the next day from laughing so much, not just from the comedy, but from our own laughs before and after. That is friendship.

And I know, that with them, I can be myself, without anyone having major expectations of me. They know the Ritu they see is the Real Ritu. And I’m not perfect. None of us are. But we are us. And we love each other as we are.

Those are the friendships worth having ❤

So… tell me, how often spend time with your real friends?

Right now I am spending more time with students (catching them up on missed work, planning upcoming big papers, privately tutoring them on the “basics” which they missed out on because they were taught to the test than I am with friends. Hopefully some will stay in contact after the class ends in December, and then I’ll have some brand new “younger friends.” LOL This week alone I met one at a juice bar in Houston, had lunch with another in Clear Lake (Houston) on Monday, met with another today (Thursday) at a coffee shop in a small town near my small town, not to mention having class and working with all 23 of them Wednesday of this week. I told them the first day I would try to be reasonable and remember they had lives outside the four walls of our classroom, but as for me, I DON’T have a life; they ARE my life, and oh my! Look what I started! And I am happy as a pig in a wallow!

What a lovely weekend you had, Sis! Long-term friendships I can unfortunately not serve. Not even friendships within in this region.
If you are German but not willing to deny certain things of the past, you have a hard time here. If you then also discover serious deeds of the Roman Catholic Church (Abuse cases, money shifts, False statements, fraud ..person related), you will soon have no friendships in a country dominated by this church. 😉 Best wishes, Michael

How lovely to have friends like this. We moved around so much, I don’t really have long term friends.

Great to hear it, Ritu. Friends, like family, are vital to our well-being. Sadly, many of our friends from way back are no longer with us (natural at our age but we have great memories of them, which are precious) Two -long-term- are 89 and 87- one fine, the other struggling, but we keep in touch, and are grateful for younger ones too. ”Babes” in their 60s, we met them by the Med. (Spain) this morning for coffee, chat and laughter. You can’t beat it. Hugs x

You really can’t beat having time with your friends, Joy, you’re right. Best to make sure you make your memories while they are still with you ❤

There is nothing like good friends. So glad you had a good night out. Like you, my BFF is far away, an ocean away actually. I am off to Canada in a couple of weeks and can’t wait to catch up with her and many other good friends. When people ask what I miss the most about Canada, I always say, my friends and family! The quote is perfect. Thanks.

I have frineds from school days (a very long time ago) and although we don’t manage to meet together all that often when we do it’s so easy to pick up where we left as if we’ve never been apart. And we laugh at the same things, too.

I love that quote. I sent it to my best friend in California many years ago. Yesterday, my youngest son had his birthday party with his friends in our garage. They were about 8 people. They had a blast and although it got really loud at times (not only the music) they all appeared like a great pack to me.
Since I have a handful of real friends and two which are really close for almost my whole life, I am happy for all the three of my children that they have such people in their lives too.
Friends are our extended family and for some people, they are their real family. Have a blessed Sunday, sis 💖

I love friends like these too. You might not see them as often as you’d like but when you’re together it’s like no time has passed at all. Sounds like a really good night.
