Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 247

“It is health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver.”

Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks for the reminder, Spidey.

This quote comes at a timely fashion, as the household is battling the coughs and sniffles that the onset of the cold weather tends to bring.

It’s not easy when your Lil Man grows up. Because that means that there are now TWO individuals liable to get MAN FLU!

Yes, yes, I’ve read the articles claiming that MAN FLU is real, but I am so not convinced.

You have a cold, plain and simple. It’s not nice, I get that, but still – MAN UP!

I’ve spent time finding Vicks Vaporub, locating cold medications to ease symptoms, and found a set of tablets, that my 14-year-old can take now as he feels he is too grown up for syrups now. And then furnished the Hubby Dearest with his tablets too.

He’s had it bad, I have to admit, needed a couple of days off work, and that in itself is unlike him.

But, as I said before… it’s a COLD!

I’ve been battling my own health issues as you all know, and still am none the wiser as to the reasons for my aches and pains. I think another trip to the doctor to get some more investigations, is in order.

And to top it off, I found a rash, small and pink ringed, on my leg. The consensus was ring worm, but it is one isolated case and I have been given cream, and was told that, yes, it is contagious, but as long as I keep my leg covered, use the cream twice daily, wash my hands a lot and make sure I don’t share towels, things should be okay. But it is now a little blister, sans ring… was it ever ringworm? I don’t know.

Then poor Lil Princess. She’s sniffling too, but has strained a muscle in her neck so she isn’t a happy bunny right now, either.

And at school it isn’t much better. On Monday, I had eight of my class off with a Norovirus style bug. And by the end of the week, one confirmed case of chicken pox… the lurgies are spreading!

I am booked for my Flu jab at school on Friday too. Here’s hoping I don’t succumb before then!

But it is true though, if you have your health, you are better off than a lot of the population out there. Wealth is great, yes, but what is it, without health?

I might not be working at 100% myself right now, but I am still capable of moving around, going to work, caring for my family. What more can I ask for?

So… tell me, are you grateful for your health?

Oh, Ritu! When it rains it pours. When you’re not well, and the kids at school are not well, that’s not good! Norovirus is nasty. Feel better soon, my friend. 😍

I am grateful for everything. There are moments, of course, when I slip from that particular pedestal. However, I continue. Life is a gift, wonderful and glorious. I have a great doctor and good insurance. I have enough to live on and just a bit left over. The Law of Attraction takes care of everything. I just need to focus parts of it better.
I have only been sick for about 3 days in the past 4 years, not counting gastro paresis, which flares up whenever my diet or sugar gets off a bit, and that is getting better.
I have one health tip that has worked wonders for me. Every night for years, I put vicks (or off brand, check ingredients) on my bare FEET and wear socks to bed. The feet absorb the vicks better than just breathing it and I don’t have the mess. I combine that with Simply Saline nasal spray, once in each nostril similar to a nettie pot. I have added an allergy pill / spray, but the vicks and Simply Saline worked excellently for many years, I used to get about 6-8 sinus infections per year since very young. As I said, 3 days in the past 4 years.

The Vicks is a great trick. I’ve done that too!
Definitely a believer in the law of Enough. As long as I have enough… Time, food, energy, money… To get by, I’m blessed 🙏🏽💜

Good health is priceless, Sister. I hope everyone on the home front feel better quickly. You almost sound like a nurse in an emergency medical unit.💜

We never appreciate our health until we lose it. We take it for granted then BANG! one day it gone and we think oh! Be well be happy. Get that ring on your leg checked out again too.

It’s the season, right? And everyone feels like joining in at the same time. I hope you find out if there is a context between your health issues and the rash. As you described it, it sounds a bit like borreliosis and the other symptoms could fit too, most of all your problems with joints. Just thinking because I had that too a few years ago.

That Gandhi quote is especially significant to those of us who haven’t perfect health. Don’t take good health for granted! I did till I came down with a serious disease at age 55. I’m dealing with the after effects a decade and a half later. One deals with it, and, as noted in another comment, a good attitude is important!

I have also had ringworm, twice. I also go it as isolated cases. The first case was from using a float vest at the gym during my pregnancy and the second time was from a child at my Sunday School. It is very contagious. Man flu – yeah – I have three males in my house – I know all about that.

It’s something we sometimes take for granted: health and happiness – then when there’s a bump in the road, how we deal with it I think has a huge impact on how quickly we recover…I can’t remember the last time I’ve been sick – and don’t plan to let any MAN FLU get to me going forward!
