#SoCS April 11/2020 – Joint

Linda’s #SOCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “joint.” Use it as a noun, an adjective, or a verb–use it any way you’d like. Enjoy!

Firstly, can I apologise for not taking part in the recent #SOCS challenges. What with the whole situation we have around us at the moment, life is somewhat, topsy turvy, to say the least!

Now, where was I? Joint.

Ahhh. Can I be honest?

The first thing that came to mind was a joint of the smoking variety.

Not to say I am a smoker, but that was the first thing. Jus’ sayin’.

But, thinking about joints, I should really be talking about mine!

If you remember, in October (Seems so long ago, that time of freedom of movement…) I had an awful time, where I was experiencing terrible pains.

They did all sorts of tests, but nothing was coming up. In the end, the GP sent me a referral to see a specialist, and the earliest I could get an appointment was… April.

Yup, over four months, I had to wait.

Since October, the pains haven’t been as bad, but I am getting twinges, and one knee is painful regularly.

I looked forward to this appointment. Maybe someone could let me know what was causing the pains…

Then, the pandemic arrived. And lockdown.

Guess whose appointment wasn’t going to happen?

Well, it kinda did. I got a phone consultation instead, and now I have to go to the local hospital (I’m dreading that) for blood tests, before a follow up appointment in AUGUST!

You know, I might just need that other kinda joint to sort the pains out…

Great! The meme with the smoking Ritu, too. You really should consider a Joint against the pain. I think this can be less harmfull as the normal medication. I dont know, are joints legal in the UK? Never smoked one by myself, i am a regular smoker, of prefered cigarillos. 😉 Best wishes, Michael

Gosh I’m sorry to hear that. My partner is dealing with knee trouble and so has my mother. Knees seem to be a weak spot in us humans. I hope it’s nothing serious and you can get it taken care of sooner than later, although that is a heck of a wait. I too am supposed to have some blood work done but have not because I’m afraid of going to any medical office. You’re helping me to remember to contact my GP to ask about this.

I hope this works out for the better for you and you stay well! 🙂

That’s frustrating. I hope they get it sorted by August for you!

My first impression of “joint” was the smoking variety too. Ha ha. I’m so sorry that your appointment got canceled after such a long wait. And going to the hospital in August?? That’s almost a year later. It’s stunning how this virus has spread like tentacles into so many parts of our lives. Almost every person in the world is impacted in one way or another. I hope your joints can hang in there until August. If not, try a joint – it might help! ❤

Can you get naproxen sodium (brand name Alve) or ibuprofen (Advil or Motrin) over the counter where you live? Both of those are good for joint pain. I use much higher than the regular dose of naproxen for my knees…

I wonder if doctors’ offices are ever going to catch up after all this…

I hope that you get some answers to those joint issues. All of them! 🙂 My 27 year old daughter keeps telling me that I need to smoke some weed…that it would help with my back pain. I’m just not ready to go there. I’ve never touched the stuff and don’t like the smell. She is trying to steer me towards edibles. She says I would feel so much better. Her boyfriend has a medical card for it so they are legal. Only one medical marijuana card per household in the state of Florida. Hope you feel better soon and get some answers.

I wondered what would happen about your doctor’s appointment, Ritu, I did expect it would be cancelled. I am sorry about that. My aunt had surgery for breast cancer in late February. She was due to start radiation therapy at the end of March and that has also been postponed which is worrying.

Oh gosh, Ritu, make sure you wear a mask at the hospital and don’t touch anything! I hope the doctors find out where your pain is coming from and find a way to help.

I know, Mary! I am already paranoid! Thankfully thie local hospital is not where the ICU departments are, so I don’t believe they are COVID-19. hubs, but still…
I sure hope they find out what is going on…
