Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 269 – Middle Aged

img_00411

“You know you’ve reached middle age when you’re cautioned to slow down by your doctor, instead of by the police.”

Joan Rivers

Yeah, thanks for rubbing it in, Spidey.

He’s been laughing at me for the last 48 hours, you know.

Why?

Because I am sitting here all stiff and achey.

Because I am definitely not as young as I used to be…

Because I took a spectacular fall on Friday morning, while climbing up. on Lil Man’s bed to sort his curtains out.

One minute I was upright, the next, flat on my back, on his floor, narrowly missing his newly fixed laptop and pair of glasses, which were on the floor, but I did manage to land kinda on to corner of one of his dumbell weights.

Yup, guess who’s feeling like a dumb belle right now?

All jokes aside, I am definitely feeling the pull of middle age now. If I do anything fitness based, that is not just a good walk, regardless of warm ups and cool downs, I feel it for a good couple of days after.

I walk around like a zombie.

And the knee is playing up. My heel is too, I think the Planters thing is making a reappearance. My shoulders ache…

I need a full body MOT right now.

And, if I could get to a doctor, for a bog standard appointment, I am pretty sure he’d be telling me to take it easy. To slow down.

Am I going to listen?

Well, right now, there isn’t much choice, but to slow down in normal life, but it doesn’t stop the world turning, does it, this COVID-19?

We still need clean clothes, beds, towels, the house needs to be kept clean too. Food needs to be made, shopping needs to be done, and making sure the the kids wake up to do their online learning, and hubby is well watered as he settles at his new office space that used to be known as our dining room, as well as either going into work, or working from home…

Nope. Still can’t slow down…

So… tell me, how are you feeling, right now?

Have a peaceful Sunday, Peeps.  And enjoy your week! ❤

You mean to say the “dumb belle” is not going to be fighting fit for the belly dancing debut by forty five?

Take care Ritu. A fall, at any age, is not a joke. Specially this is not a time to visit a hospital if one can avoid it.
    Get well soon.

Sorry to read about your fall, Ritu. I am feeling a bit like all the fun parts of work and life have been skimmed off and we are left with all the drudgery.

I definitely need to do more and varied exercises. Every time I enter the family room, where my boys hang, one is using his dumbbells. Maybe if I hung out in there with them, I’d use them too? But not to fall on–you poor thing. Seriously, even at our age, falls are so dangerous! I’m glad you’re just sore! But the knee and other cricks–I get it and it’s no fun. Right before all this covid stuff I was seriously considering joining a local gym. Walking’s just not enough for me–and I don’t do it long enough for it to make a difference. Who knows when we can all feel safe going to the gym again–ugh. Guess I better get used to online exercise classes, which I can’t get into!

Quite chipper actually what with the ultimate spring clean, the garden and a daily dose of Joe Wicks… then i started passing rather a lot of blood and I’m in A&E. ‘You have cystitis’. Hello? Have i developed involuntary gender reassignment and become a 15 year old girl? Nope its a risk in the older man. Well buggeration, who’s this older man who’s squatting inside me? I’m only… oh right yes I suppose that is me. The goodnews is the tablets have pretty much sorted things and I’m back doing the above but with my middle youth self image rather dented… take care, kiddo!

See! You don’t buy the children bunk beds, Sis!. We only had them with the military, and I took the bed downstairs. After I was always so KO that I fell into bed with the combat suit and slept until dinner. Lol
But let’s be honest: you’re not old after all. Look at your picture: A teenager, in full joy of life. 🙂

But Spidey’s saying makes sense. That’s why so many old men buy fast cars. Look at the age of the politicians who govern us. Then you really feel like you’ve just slipped out of the egg. :-)) Have a beautiful Sunday too, Sis! Dont try again climbing. This is a well intentioned advice from a (former) mountain trooper. :-)) Michael

I hope you recover. It could have been a nasty fall. Perhaps focus on the safe jobs and let someboy else do the climbing!

At least your body hurts for a good reason, Ritu. Just wait until you get to be my age and things start to ache when you haven’t done anything to deserve the pain.😎

Oops. Hope you recover well. Now is a good time as any to hop onto a bike and start cycling. They’ll sort out the stiffness and help with another different form of exercise. I hope Mr Husbsnd is finding the time to get some fresh air. Take care
