#SoCS May 23/2020 – Cheyynah

Linda’s #SoCS prompt this week:

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “ch.” Find a word that starts with “ch” and use it as your prompt word. Bonus points if you start your post with that word. Enjoy!

China.

Go on, say it.

Can you actually say it without morphing into a grotesque version of Donald Trump – ‘Cheyynah’?

I know I can’t.

Chinese food.

I miss a good old Chinese takeaway, but since this virus spread, here in this area, we have no places open, even for delivery, because the owners were subjected to such abuse. And one had even put a note up to say that she was born and bred here in the UK, had never been to China, and bought all her ingredients at local wholesalers, but still, her business got grief.

That really makes me sad. Some people are childish.

It never ceases to amaze me how people think! Imagine banning a Chinese takeaway and giving the poor owner such abuse! Ignorance is worse than the virus.

So sad. One would think our species would be further along by now. Glad some Chinese restaurants have opened up again there.

Well written, Sis! I dont like this bashing of other cultures and people. Its horrible claiming a whole country for things maybe some criminals – often not origins of this country – had done. Michael

There is no room for such behaviour! I had heard of our local Chinese restaurant which was getting grief, even after serving the local community for so long. There will always be a few idiots (maybe more) who all they want is to direct their own frustrations at someone else.

Makes me sad too. I will order Chinese take-out today for that very reason. Fortunately we have a few places around here still providing take out.

A sad note on humans. Good use of the prompt though.

Ah, you should have picked… CHOCOLATE!!! (Delicious, and void of any controversy.)

America’s joke on itself and the world. I’ve reached a point with Trump where I can no longer feel outrage at what he says and does because it’s an every day thing. I simply ignore him. Of course, if Porky the Pig ran for US President in 2020 as a Democrat, I’d vote for him, it’s that bad here.

It is so worrying what he thinks he can say and get away with!

That is what I find the most outrageous thing about him. The Republican Senators owe America a huge apology for not voting to oust him when he was impeached. It was predicted that letting him get away with the things he was impeached for just encouraged more bad behavior till he left office one way or another. The prediction proved prescient. My big hope is both the House and the Senate are under control of the Democrats in the next Congress. I don’t think I can ever vote for another Republican.

This is more excessive than what we discussed when we first followed each other’s blogs. Some people are stupidly racist and I feel like there’s no hope in changing their ways of thinking.

I don’t know if you follow Kim’s blog or not, Ritu, but she posted this disturbing piece regarding racism a few weeks back. https://cadburypom.wordpress.com/2020/03/06/coronavirus/
Sometimes it seems like we’ve come a long way, and then ignorant people remind us how far we still have to go.

Yes, the grassroots bursts of racism is very troubling. Also, I am swept away by your Trump art. Did you craft it? I’d like to reblog.

You are more than welcome to reblog!
Racism is always bubbling under the surface for some. They need the flimsiest of excuse to let loose…
