Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 308 – Positivity

“Keep looking up. That’s the secret of life.”

Charlie Brown

Thanks, Spidey. Think I’m getting a crick in my neck from all the looking up, but I do try and stay positive!

There is far too much around us, right now, that can bring us down. Even the most bubbly of person finds themselves feeling flat, more often than usual.

Ask me, I’m one of those bubbles…

I’ve never experienced this amount of low phases in such a short space of time. You probably wouldn’t know it from my blog, because I try to be that voice of positivity at all times, but behind the encouragement sometimes sits a person feeling like she is just about surviving.

I should count myself lucky, really.

I have so much to be grateful for: a wonderful family, my true love as my soulmate, both sets of my parents are healthy and have had or are getting their vaccines, a roof over my head, a secure (stressful) job, a car, friends I can rely on, a little money in the bank, food in the cupboards, that sort of thing.

But sometimes, this situation drags me down. It feels as if it will never end.

  • When will I see the rest of my family?
  • When can I hug?
  • How long before I get to be with my Finndian family?
  • When will we get back to normality in school?
  • Will we sell our house, ever?

Then I do that Charlie Brown thing, and look up, metaphorically. I try and find the silver linings, and sure enough, they do appear.

We’re all sitting under a huge cloud, right now, so it’s even more important, right now, to be looking up, to glance the breaks in that cloud, and feel the sunbeams of positivity on our faces, whenever we can.

So, make sure you keep looking up, Peeps!

So… tell me, how are you coping, now it’s reaching nearly a year since life as we knew it ceased?

Have a peaceful Sunday Peeps.

It’s not easy. I miss hugging my children and grandchildren. It’s easier knowing we’re literally all, the whole world coping, and many suffering physically and financially much more than my family. I’ve found it a time for reading, thinking and introspection, and valuing what we still have. That’s my silver lining. 💖

You’re right, Luccia. Remembering we’re all in it together brings some comfort. Here’s hoping we can hug our loved ones soon.🤗

I feel like you, Ritu. I have so many things to be thankful for, and I write about all the ‘good things’, yet… I feel pulled down and flat. Our state can’t even get it together to vaccinate people over 75. Those people have to go to a gigantic venue and wait in line for hours. I desperately want to hug children (and of course I do), and not be ruled by all the Covid protocols. Sigh. So, I focus on the good. Most recently it has been the Boston Robotics. Children want to see the robots and hear “Do You Love Me” every single day. I hang onto those little and wonderful moments. Like you, I always see the good.

What a wonderful motivating quote! Thank you for this! Yes, we need to see the silver linings, and i am sure normality will come back earlier we are thinking about. We only need to believe and keeping positive in mind, Sis! Here you are a role model for me! Best wishes, Michael

It’s not an easy thing to stay positive, but we do it because the alternative is worse…my wife is currently back in the studio filming three days a week, wearing a spacesuit, two masks AND a plastic shield. They have a Covid Cop who makes sure no one gets within ten feet of each other and everyone is masked and tested every other day…it’s exhausting, just as it is for all educators trying to teach…but we are making progress!

Just the same as you sis …more or less like everyone else.
Just remember, ‘ we are all lying in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars.’ 💜💜💜💜

We wrote a similar post today. I feel like everyone in the world must be experiencing pandemic fatigue. For me, like you, is accepting that the world has changed and realizing that not everything about the pandemic is awful. We’ve all had a year of time together with family, which might not happen nearly as much under normal circumstances.

It´s been tough and like you, I´m usually very positive and try to keep everyone around me up but lately some days…… We adopted another dog so that has been keeping me busy. We will get through this. Keep looking up!

There is always more room to see when we look up. And there is always more we do have than what we may see when focused on our troubles. All things in life are temporary, and so is this virus situation.

‘Look up’ has always been one of Sue and Stuart’s watchwords, Ritu. And although it’s usually aimed at strange figures carved into the walls or even roofs of undiscovered churches, it carries the same joys of discovery. Let us all look up, and continue to lift this dark veil… x

Some days are harder than others. I have never walked so many miles in the last year. That hasn’t resulted in losing any weight, but it helps my mental health. Teachers in our county have started getting vaccinated, Ritu Hopefully, you won’t have to wait too much longer, and life can get back to some semblance of normal.

We can only hope, Pete. I started this with a good walking intention, but the strain of school means I’m exhausted when I get home, and it’s too dark in the mornings… Still ups and downs. They continue to come 💜
