Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 318 – Goodness

img_00411

“If you have good thoughts, they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.”

Roald Dahl (The Twits)

What a lovely quote, Spidey!

I do love a bit of Dahl wisdom, and this is a wonderful example.

I have always believed this, and I think that the eyes are the window to a person’s soul. So, it’s not just smiles I look at, but the eyes.

It is very hard to hide emotions from eyes, I feel.

A smile can lose it’s shine if it doesn’t reach a person’s eyes. A person can beam at you, flashing their teeth, but if the eyes aren’t twinkling… it makes you stop and think.

Equally, your eyes can give away when you are trying hard to mask a sadness, dissapointment, or even anger.

But, if, ultimately, you are a good person, it emanates from you, exactly like Dahl said.

So, what do you think?

That’s a great quote, Ritu. The eyes say it all, don’t they?

I agree with this, Ritu. I always say that if you look outside of yourself and give to others you will find happiness, and happiness shows on your face.

That’s so true. We have it all inside but need to let it shine. And that way, we can inspire others to do the same. Happy Sunday, sis!

The eyes tell all! It is especially true now that everyone is wearing masks and all we see is their eyes. I love that quote. Thanks.

Ritu, my wife and I were observing how, in our masked COVID world, the only way to tell someone is smiling is through their eyes and eyebrows. I think this is a key reason women from the Middle East, who cover their faces, have such beautiful eyes and eyebrows. Of course, at our age, eyebrows are thinning, like the hair on top of my head, so it is harder to see me smile with a mask on. But, I still am. Happy Sunday. Keith

One thing I have learned this past year is that you do need to see more than their eyes to be able to tell what someone is like. I can’t even tell if someone’s smiling when they’ve got a mask on. I don’t get out much, though, so other people might be a lot better at this than I am.

I agree Ritu eyes are the windows to the soul. They reveal so much about a person. I could never trust someone with cool, uncaring eyes.

Many years ago, I worked for the actor Eddie Albert, and one day at his house, I was the only one there when Dahl came to borrow a device Eddie used to create pictures out of colored pieces of rock. It was suspended from an overhead post over a glass table in the patio. As he was lowering the device, it slipped and came crashing down, demolishing the table below. With demolished glass at our feet, Dahl and I just looked at each other. He then said,”Oh, bad show.” The perfect observation.
