So, another week has flown by, of this final term of the academic year… another manic one, if I an honest!

Let’s give you a quick recap, along withour weekly drink! Ready?

  • If we were having chai I’d start, with that thing called work/school. You know, being a phase leader for this department is a tough slog, especially this year. With new curriculum stuff to sort out, assessment for another incomplete year, reports to write, sorting out the classes for next year, and a high leven of need from several of our pupils, it has really threatened to push people over the edge. So much so, that I have had staff members in tears, as well as me, feeling that we aren’t able to do more for certain children, but we are doing the best we can under circumstances out of our control. Staffing was better, this week but there was still a lot of upheaval, with meetings, and more meetings… and a few heartwrenching sessions with one particular child. Still, we have such a good relationship with the parents, that we all know we are trying our best to give each child what they deserve.
  • If we were having chai I’d go back to that old report thing… I still have ten more to write, but I managed to snatch a couple of hours one evening to get some done, with the help of my furry pal… Jaffa cakes were also there as a support…
  • If we were having chai I’d tell you that cricket has still been pretty full on, with Lil Man playing for the U17s, the Mens Vth team, and filling in for the 1st team, too! There were some ups and downs, but he got 4 wickets for 32 runs off 6 overs in the 1st team game, so, even though they lost, he did really well! But, I have to admit that I am getting very tired now… counting the weeks until the league season ends…
  • If we were having chai I’d tell you that I feel like I have barely picked up a book the last few weeks. When I do, I am so tired that I fall asleep when reading. I can’t wait to get back into my proper reading routine!
  • If we were having chai I’d end by saying that it was my bro in law and wife’s anniversary, so as we were unable to be there, I arranged for a luxury breakfast hamper to be delivered, so they could be treated at home, since with his foot in a cast, my Bro in Law can’t actually get around anywhere, right now!

This week, along with the usual work stuff, I hope to get the data done, and the reports written, alongside a biggie. Lil Man turns 16 this week! When did that happen? I admit to feeling rather old now!

    A chat on chai is always so refreshing…maybe the chai just frees the mind to share..time flies…it’s always so de-stressing..

    End of term and reports etc. A busy time for reachers, but fortunately the end is near and the hols are within grasp.

    Those reports, paper work, challenging children, and meetings, really put teachers over the edge! Teachers just want to play and be with children! How many weeks till this term ends? Your staff are lucky to have you, Ritu. Sending you good vibes!! 💕

    When I read your updates it makes me remember how glad I am to be retired… I admire you, Ritu, for your dedication I wish schools had more staff to help the more needy kids as it is important for their development as you know…Like Robbie, Covid is running wild here and schools are closed for the next 3 weeks…Take care and breathe x

        Yes we keep an eye on the numbers.. This damn virus is here to stay methinks we are just going to have to learn to manage it.. at least with the vaccinations there seem to be fewer deaths we haven’t even the luxury no chance of a vaccine for everyone here yet.. X

        Vaccine wise, things are going well, here, but numbers keep rising, and many people are scared, because of how things were managed, initially… z

    Hi Ritu, It’s always nice to read your updates. It makes me feel like my own life is somewhat normal. Things have been tough around here with dad in bed for 10 days. Yesterday, we managed to get him in to see a cardiologist for an emergency appointment. It seems he has either a pulmonary hypertension induced enlarged pulmonary artery or a pulmonary embolism. Both are very dangerous. We are due to see doctor again on Wed. Covid is running wild here and the schools closed last week Friday. EEEEKKKKK!!!!!

    School sounds unrelenting, but you and your fellow teachers are doing an amazing job by the sound of it. Well done on powering through the reports as well, I can imagine how hard it is to have to start work again once you get home. I also find I fall asleep over my book at the moment. Well done Lil Man on all of those wickets, nicely done indeed. He is a similar age to my middle boy, life is busy at 15/16 I think! Hope this week isn’t too hectic for you, although those last weeks of the summer term always seem quite manic.

    My children are 45 and 43. It seems such a short time ago they were in high school. It appears that your Lil man is not so little anymore.

    One of my dreams is to be able to visit bloggers all over the world. There are several living in Britain, two in India, one in Turkey, and a few in Australia I’d like to visit. It might take 3 lifetimes and a billion dollars, but someday…
