Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 335 – Chill? What Chill?

Thanks for that Meme, Spidey. It pretty much sums up my feels, right now!

I know I have shared something similar in the past, but right now, this whole sentiment of being a permanently exhausted pigeon hits the spot!

So, last weekend, Spidey and I had a break, as Pops and Mum were down, and we did spend wonderful moments with them, that went far too quickly.

And I am two weeks into my summer break.

Er, and I still don’t feel rested. But then, I suppose, in order to be rested, I’d actually have to be able to stop, for a h

The first week comprised of cricket (what a surprise!), at least 4 days, as well as the visit from my parents, which was lovely, but busy, and emotional too, which is to be expected after seeing each other after a year!

They left on Sunday, and then this past week’s commitments started, with a cricket tournament starting on Sunday, all afternoon, as well as a match on Monday and Friday, plus an eyebrow appointment on Tuesday, and then three visits to hospitals, (not for me, I was designated driver for my in-laws and their apppintments!) Two of those appointments needed them to be at the relevant hospitals early morning, and I had a 25 minute journey to them, followed by another half an hour to the actual appointments, so I was tired. The last one was actually my father-in-law’s cataract surgery, so I was sat in the car for 3 hours, waiting, and reading until he came out.

Friday/Saturday, aside from cleaning the house, and grocery shopping, I also built the garden furniture that we had ordered. Now we just need the weather to change, so we can enjoy it!

I have been shattered. This is why. No real time to stop, and put the breaks on. At least, I haven’t been in school, yet. I have tried, purposely, to stop thinking about work, even though I do end up with emails coming, that are still important ones to act upon, but I have managed to put them on the back burner, so far.

But, my writing mojo has disappeared. I really wanted to use August to do some more writing on book two, but it’s just not there, at the moment. I have sat with my document open several times, but nothing flows. My body and mind are on a bit of a strike, I fear.

Talking of body, my aches and pains are coming back, in the knees and shoulder… it’s not a fantastic place to be.

At least I am snatching time to read, though. Heaven knows I have enough books on that TBR pile, including another fourteen arcs I have a deadline on, to read!

I really must try and slow down… Someone, have a word with Life, and ask it to give me a little break… please!

So, what about you? Do you find it easy to step away from responsibilities, and take a well deserved break?

namaste

Wishing you a wonderfully peaceful Sunday, Peeps!

Slow down, Sis! You will need this break. Your posting sounds like you are much busier in vacancy than at school. Dont do that! Go swimming, walking, not only driving. Lol
I haven’t been able to tell you much about spending free time, now for over one year. Thanks to my excellent electronic accessibility, one can always reach me. 😉 “Electronic” also means that there is evidence that is accurate to the second, as to when something has entered my office. ;-( But not so bad, because I’m always happy, when I’m allowed to write bad letters. Lol Best wishes, Michael

Add watching some cricket test matches to it and see how quickly summer will be over. You may even get a day off due to rain😀.

Time sure seems to be flying, isn’t it? After all the dark of what a horrible year 2020 was, we are already 7 months into 2021! Seems like there is always something going on!

Sometimes we just have to make a break or our body will force us into one. Hopefully, things will work out in a way for you to have some chill time, Sister 💜🙏🏽

Ritu, I have just learned from my six day hospital stay that if you don’t SLOW DOWN when the Lord tells you to, He will KNOCK YOU DOWN. I beg you to make time for rest…I know there is no time, but sacrifice SOMETHING and sloooooow down, dear.

Ritu, don’t forget how much you have done before the break. The big house move alone is enough to make you tired for months. The writing will come when it’s ready to!

I also read in the car while waiting in surgery car parks. I wonder now if taking a nap might not be a better idea.

I know there’s no point telling you to take it easy, because there are things that have to be done and they have to be done by you. Naps are good, though. No shorter than 20 minutes and no longer than 2 hours. I set an alarm and put my head down on the kitchen table. It works wonders. If you can get 20 mins to yourself, I recommend it.

I hear you, sis, feeling very exhausted and continuously tired for weeks. Just too much in my neck to take care of, and too much overthinking too, I admit. However, it is good that you follow your body, and don’t enforce your writing plans, since it would only end up in more exhaustion and frustration. Just enjoy, relax the way you want it, and know that it will lead you back on track. Your body and mind may need some space💖

Those teens need you more than ever huh. The writing will return though it’s frustrating. I’m managing some short stuff in the run up to the wedding but every time I think I’ll have a gander at the MS, some other tasks takes over thr head space . Still it will improve.

I work at home (freelance writer) and I find it almost impossible to take a break because it’s always there. I’m not surprised your writing mojo has disappeared for a while though, you’ve been working so hard. What works for me sometimes is to read craft books. I can suddenly see how to apply their tips and suggestions to my own manuscript and that gets me thinking about it again. Or simply reading through what I have so far – it sort of puts my head into the story and I find myself thinking about it through the day. But a break would be good too! I spent two hours in a cricket club car park yesterday waiting for the rain to stop and then joining in the pitch inspection (everyone standing around looking alternately at the grass and the sky). That was my break for the weekend 🙂

I used to relish the me time at cricket, then I got into watching, and got to know the other parents so sometimes, even the Kindle doesn’t even get a look in!
I’ve read a could of craft books, and I know what I want to do, it’s just the motivation that is flagging!!

Gosh Sis you are working so hard, you need to take a week off and let the rest of the family take the slack.
Life is relentless it gives no quarter but no one is indispensable. Where would everyone be without you. ?
    Hugs 💜💜💜

In my experience, visits from relatives are never anything but exhausting, Ritu. And you can’t create anything when you’re in ‘exhausted pigeon’ mode!!
My advice: get a good fiction book. Shout at the world that you need two private hours a day to yourself, and lose yourself in it… Oh, and some yoga or Pilates before you read the book each day. Just 30 mins will make all the difference – centres you on your body’s needs. Steve x

It’s difficult to unwind when there is so much to do and difficult to ignore important work things, but these show that you care. I don’t have any advice on how to force yourself to work on your book but this might be a time to wait for inspiration to strike.

No, there is no chill for me either these past two Sundays. Since I have joined new office, the weeks are passing away in a jiffy, and the Sunday I am forced to take up household responsibilities from which there is no respite :):). But the music is playing on…..so that way it’s cool 🙂

I know what you mean about opening the document and…nothing. Perhaps we can have August designated as Writers Block Month.
