Spidey’s Serene Sunday – Part 342 – Family

img_00411

“I love to see my family together. That’s what life is about. It’s about family.”

Ja Rule

Lovely thought, you found there, Spidey, thank you!

I really do love to see my family together, and in a perfect world, we would all be together, physically, a lot more.

However, today, we were all together, in a different way.

It was heartwarming to see my Pops and Mum, on a video call, with my brother, sis-in-law and my Finndian Nephews, in Helsinki. They have finally managed to get out there, to see the Finnish contingency, after over 2 years.

So, even though I was only there, via screen, we were all together, for the first time in a long while.

And, yes, I wished I was there, but I was so, so happy that my parents were able to get there. My nephews faces, the love they bestowed upon their Dada and Dadi, so precious!

One day, soon enough, we will be together, but right now, I am content to be able to be with them, in this way.

So, what about you? Do you love the age of the video call?

Wishing you a wonderfully peaceful Sunday, Peeps!

Hi Ritu, I am in the fortunate position of not having to use video calls to see my parents or most of my family. I see my sister, Laura, often and sometimes I see my other sister, Catherine. I also see my Aunt as we all live close together and were all being very careful and sheltering in place through the covid waves.

If i would look a little bit better, i would enjoy vidcalls much more. Lol Unfortunately, I don’t have any make-up artists here in the house. These high resolution cams are sooooo shaming. I think in future i will only wear a Guy Fawkes mask.;-) I love your positive experiences, and its for sure the best way for meetings, in pandemic environment. Best wishes for the upcoming week, Sis! xx Michael

I think many of us have learned during this pandemic that actually physical interaction with others is vital…the zoom call is a great way to keep a connection, but it sure doesn’t replace there real thing! Happy Sunday to you!

How lovely for you all Sis. I do like this video era it’s a blessing these days of pandemic and now food and fuel shortages.
Our youngest WhatsApp me this morning to say, would we like to join them for a roast dinner. We really would of loved too but we have not got enough fuel in the car and did not relish trying to find some and maybe getting stranded. Our lad understood but it’s very disappointing. So yes give me video it’s a great help! 💜

Thanks to modern technology the world has become a bit smaller and we can celebrate togetherness even when there are miles between. I am happy for your parents to see their son and his family again after such a long time.

Yes yes for sure. When we emigrated to Australia in 1964 phone calls home were very rare and when they were arranged my Dad would be sitting with a stop watch to make sure we did not go over the three minutes! You can imagine how much five of us could say to aunty and uncle in that time. Now with family still all over the place we take it for granted we can chat for an hour to someone on another continent.

I remember similar times, with calls to and from Kenya, for us, when growing up.
The younger generations will never know how big this world really is, how far away family can be, because, technology has made it much smaller, in a good way!
