Chai And A Chat #204 #ChaiAndAChat

Morning, Peeps. It’s Monday again, and the morning of the Queen’s funeral.

I’ve got my cuppa, and will spend the morning watching the proceedings on the TV since school is closed today.

  • If we were having chai, I’d say that school was an excellent place to be, with the children beginning to stay for lunches with us. You can tell this is the year group who have been least affected by the last couple of years’ lockdowns, as it feels like a more typical intake compared to the last couple of years. There will always be wrinkles to iron out, but nothing that appears to need industrial action! We stayed with the children for their lunches last week to ease them into it all and allow our lunchtime supervisors to become familiar with them and their personalities.
  • If we were having chai, I’d say that I had a first this week. Lil Man is no longer a Lil Man, as he was invited to his first proper party, with his mates all getting to that turning 18 time of life! We live a little further out now compared to before, so it was engineered that we spent the evening with the in-laws, and were able to pick him up before heading home at around midnight. It’s scary, that first time, letting go. But he has a sensible head on his shoulders and as long as he keeps it that way, there are no worries. I think he had a good time, but he was shattered after!
  • If we were having chai, I would tell you that I have nothing more to report, since the week has been busy with school… Sonu Singh is fine, but a reluctant model this week, so no pics today!

This week, school is only 4 days what with HRH the Queen’s funeral today. The children start full time with us as well, so I am sure I will be even more knackered than usual, too!

    Good mid-morning,
I haven’t responded to one of these in a while. Things have been crazy-zy here. It is Friday, Sept. 23rd, and I have brewed coffee with a touch of cardamon.
I enjoyed your post a great deal. I watched the dear Queen’s funeral this week, and was proud of the proper way it was done. You Brits know how to pay respects.
School is good for me too, but it is very very busy. There is hardly time for anything else; but, I’m not complaining. I only actually make the 45 (one way) minute drive once a week and handle my three hour class one day a week, Wednesdays. The students are juniors, seniors, and grad students at the university and they are doing nicely so far this semester. I hope things at school continue to run smoothly for you, dear.

It sounds like a good start to the school year. Our school feels much more back to ‘normal’, too.
How did Lil Man suddenly become (or close to) 18?

So, it looks like the classes are slowly going back to normality with the not so affected Covid generation.
Regarding LilMan. When my kids turned 18, it was a big relief for me. Because then they knew whatever they do, they are in charge and I am not anymore. It worked well with all three. It was literally like a switch was turned, and they got reasonable with the awareness of their responsibility.

I watched as much as I could of the Queen’s Funeral, today, Sis. It made me sad. It’s the end of an era, and the beginning of a new one. ❤️

3 Cheers to your first born about to transition out of his teens and into the decade of his 20s. 🙂

I didn’t look at him, then, but who knows what goes on, Beo!

I am sure former LilMan will like all the parties, but don’t forget that you also can have parties at home, Sis! Enjoy a nice rest of the free day! I also watching the todays proceedings, on several channels. Have you noticed: Prince Harry has not sung the reformulated anthem? Germans are noticing this all. 🙂 Best wishes, Michael

HI Ritu, I did wonder if the schools would be closed today for the funeral. It is quite a big deal in the UK. I am glad things are normalising so nicely in your world.

      Slow and steady, Robbie.
All schools and colleges, plus it has been declared a bank holiday, with businesses given the choice whether to open it not.
Most businesses are closing, if not for the whole dat, then until after the state service has taken place. 💛
