Your prompt for JusJoJan, January 20th 2023, is “phantom” Use the word “phantom” any way you’d like. Have fun writing!
When I started University, mobile phones were still rare, and quite chunky.
If you had the latest music device, you were sporting a portable discman.
And computers were all the rage, though you weren’t likely to have your own, yet. There were banks of them in the library and ICT suites.
But the internet? This was the time of dial up connections, and rare to have in homes.
At university, though, we had banks of computers to use with (slow) but exciting to use, internet connection.
Plus an internal messaging system.
On this you could give yourself a nickname and send silly messages to other students.
My nickname was the Phantom Giggler, because I was always giggling, laughing or smiling.
And it was no secret who I was because everyone knew the smiley, curly-haired girl from Birmingham!
There you have it. A silly phantom tale!

I’m sure they were. FM radio was where all the classical and “beautiful music” stations were until the late ’60’s, when pop/rock started migrating to FM. By the ’80’s affordable transistor radios that could pick up both AM and FM (like the Walkman) were available. Now, it’s common for an AM station to have an FM station that simulcasts their signal, because everyone listens to FM. And, while radios still come with AM and FM, most people never listen to AM…

So many people stream radio over the Internet now with services like iHeart and TuneIn, which you can install on your phone. You don’t even need a radio for those.
