That´s nice of you to volunteer your time for the homeless. Being a former one myself, I do remember getting the hot chocolate with bunck of cookies in the winter, it sure came in handy and not so much the hot chocolate but also seeing the volunteers, although the shame was there in me.

    You´re a good gal.

I wish I could take credit for volunteering… One day I will. But this was an article by a fellow blogger Geoff LePard.

I tend to miss things when shifting through a bunch of blogs, well, in that case I will say( and it sounds harsh) that myself I really don´t have much pitty for the homeless. I got there because of bad choices, the people I met and still see them, are there because most of them want to, the other day I met a guy I hadn´t seen in months, who is homeless and I met him while I was on the streets. I told him about a job I had aligned to do, not much, just cleaning some shit from a horse stable (literally), so I told the guy if he wanted some money, and he just encountered him as he came out of church, not in church, but out of it when people go inside or leave he may get 5 euros in a couple of hours. Anyways, I tell him that, he asks me for money, I tell him that I´ll give him a couple of Euros for food, I tell him about a place that you can rent for 50 euros a month, if he wants to take advantage of that job in the horse stable, and in the afternnon where do I see him? As always in the park with the rest of the guys, drinking and taking drugs. So out I go to meet him, say a quick hello to the others since they obviously still remember me from the old days, all asking for money or cigarettes, and told the guy to give me back the 3 eruos I gave him early in the morning. It was for food and he just got 3 lines of coke with my money, so what happened later you can imagine, not a pretty sight, his face that is.

Everyone has their reasons… Some are helpless, some are there because of their own silliness, but I guess we can’t tar all with the same brush

They are humans Ritu, bunch of petty criminals in quite a lot of instances, others are not, they´re good people except their addiction gets the best of them but they won´t rob, just like in your world you find all types of good and bad people, same is there, although i should say that in the streets 99.9% of the time you gotta be very aware if you want to not get seriously injured or worst. But, as I said they do speak your same language, give it a try and be the good samaritan and go talk to the first homeless you encounter and later on tell me what how it went (be careful with your purse though) if good or bad 😉
