Tuesday Thoughts

This is such a true thought.

If I go shopping, alone, my eye alights onto the things the children would love… I end up with bags of things for them, not me!

Going out for dinner, on date night… Inevitably, the talk turns to our children, and missing their annoying noise, to the point hubby dearest is ready to go get them from their grandparents!

Any time we are alone, and they aren’t there, basically, our thoughts are on those children. After all, we had them, we wanted them, it stands to reason that they are on our minds 24/7.

One thing I don’t agree with are those manuals that say that your kids shouldn’t take over your life, they are merely a kart of it. Yes, they are a part of it but you know, they didn’t chose to be born, we made that choice. Surely that means they should be the most important part of our thoughts. After all family is the biggest thing, to me anyway.

These are just my thoughts. I know there are many different family situations out there, but where kids are involved, maybe the children should be at the forefront of our minds…

Have a thoughtful Tuesday Peeps!

I agree, it is important to have time together….but isn’t that what late nights are for…LOL I hated it when my kids weren’t with me….they are and always will a part of me…..even though they are both grown, married and have lives of there own…when mama calls for the need of a hug and kiss, they make the time…..enjoy them while they are young….believe me….it will be over sooner than you want….

I think it’s personal, in that not everyone is the same, so we parent to suit us, because trying to parent like other people is a waste of time.
I’m with you. I can’t wait to get them out the door and miss them the moment they’re gone! Then I’m so happy they’re home, but as time goes by, I’m sure they need to go to bed and leave me in peace!
I don’t mind short vacations from my kids, and it does get easier as they get older, but I still couldn’t take a week vacation without them!
I think worry plays too much with me, and am sure all other parents are calmer lol!
Yes, we totally talk about and shop for our kids when we’re alone 🙂

Our daughter is a huge part of our life and we do manage to carve some time for us but she’s never far from the forefront 🙂 I do shop for her when I’m out for myself and we’ve taken vacations once without her and although we enjoyed ourselves, we haven’t repeated the experience and feel like it’s so much better with her along 🙂

I think those books are preparing you for when your children make their own lives. If your children are the main focus of your life you will be lost when they move on. Though they love you and want to spend time with you, they will move on and you will have to find yourself after they do.

Such a lovely thought, and I so agree. Especially when they were young, it’s mostly what we talked about when we got out on a “date”. It’s natural, it’s wonderful, and you should cherish every moment. They grow up too fast. 💕

Beautiful sis I truly understand but I must admit that does change a bit when the Grandchildren come along. It’s all about those lickle minions instead☺☺☺☺☺

I experience exactly the same. Whenever we had some time apart from the kids I was talking more about them than when they are around. They truly are a part of our lives but actually a part of ourselves. No matter what age they are. Once a mom, always a mom. My daughter turns 20 on Friday and although I love to let her fly, I always see the little girl – my little girl in her.
