“There you go Mrs Smith, all nice and clean now! Sorry, what was that? Oh yes, I know, I hope your son will get over here this Christmas too. I’ll be here with you as well, don’t you worry. Oh, I can hear another bell, excuse me…
Yes, Mrs Jones, what can I…? Oh, yes I see, let me just adjust your pillow. I know it’s not the same as home, but I’ll try and make you as comfortable as I can… Sorry…”
Bell after bell…. Only one of her and sixteen demanding patients… Thank God she loved her job!
A tribute to our hard working nursing staff.

Thank you. I know many who are working in the NHS and, like my own profession, teaching, it is a never ending task, with not as much reward, but it is a vocation, and if you love it, you will take all that comes, and more!

I’ve met plenty of nurses who love what they do. In that profession you need to be compassionate.

I was listening to the song while reading your lines… it brought tears to my eyes. Really, that touched me a lot! Beautiful. The feelings of the people in the hospital and the ones caring for them understanding their patients pain….. so touching! Beautiful, Sis! 💖
