Unveiled
I stepped outside, onto our rooftop veranda.
The sun, still warm, was beginning to set.
I needed to collect the clothes from the line, but first, I just had to make the most of this moment.
As far as the eye could see, roof terraces were visible, but, unlike other days, no one was out on them.
This virus had scared everyone.
Slowly, I unhooked my veil, allowing the warm rays to touch my face.
This was a bliss I was rarely allowed to experience.
“Shield your face!” My father appeared.
I scrambled to reinstate the veil. “Sorry Abba.”
But I Smile Anyway...

Wonderful penned, Sis! Dont worry, we will overcome this. Yesterday i discussed the many people died in the UK, but here in Germany they do not count all the people died at home or in nursing homes, too. This pushes up the counts in the UK. Otherwise every life is unpayable, and there is to care for. Lets hope the best, and stay all save. Michael

Two of the sentences were cut off for me for some reason, Ritu, but I did get most of this. Very poignant. I haven’t been out so have not had the need to wear a mask. My dad or Terence have been going. I wanted to go today just for a change of scenery but I thin T needs the change more than I so I let him go.

I’m the one who goes out for the grocery shopping… I have a simple washable mask, but nothing medical grade, as you can’t get them now…

I like this post sis, it is gentle but has a clear message. I have to say this virus is nothing like I have seen before. I have never seen the seasonal flu affect so many people, nor known it cause the measures it has .

Too many places in the world require women to shield their faces. Now, we’re willingly shielding our faces for a pandemic that hasn’t killed as many people as the flu kills each year. To make matters worse, if someone dies of a different disease but tests positive for COVID-19, the virus is listed as the cause of death even if it wasn’t the reason.
As my father would’ve said, “Somethin’ ain’t right.”

Here, this morning, there was an interview with someone who said that in the UK the daily figures of the deaths aren’t even including those that have died at home, because of the virus.
But it is different from the seasonal Influenza that we know claims many lives.
I guess the unknown factor will dictate what happens…
