Freestyle writing challenge #4

This is a funny thing, I get another nomination for the Freestyle writing challenge. And the actual topic to write on is the very one I had put for my nominees last time! I like it! Things are going round!

Anyway, back to the challenge in hand… My Kenyan Blog Pal Emmanuel, has challenged me to do the old freestyle writing challenge! If you haven’t already, please check out his blog, he had loads of great posts from poetry, recently, jokes, and all sorts!
1. Open a blank document.

2. Set a stop watch timer to 5 or 10 minutes, whichever length you prefer.

3. Your topic is at the foot of this post BUT DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH YOUR TIMER!!!

4. Once you start writing do not stop until the alarm sounds! Do not cheat by going back and correcting spelling and grammar using spell check (it is only meant for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write with correct spelling and grammar.)

5. You may or may not pay attention to punctuation or capitals

6. At the end of your post write down the number of words to give an idea of how much you can write within the time Frame.

7. Put the whole document onto your post and nominate 5 others and give them a new topic. Remember to copy paste the rules in!

What I thought life would be like as an adult, when I was a kid
Oh the innocence of childhood! It all seemed so simple then. We went to school, did all the hard work, the studying, the homework, the getting up early, the being forced to bed…
God, how I wished I was an adult! You got to get up when you wanted (it just happened to be earlier than us, for some reason!) you went to bed when you wanted. You ate whatever you felt like. When you went shopping there was always money in your purse, or that special plastic card that you inserted into that hole in the wall and it spat money out at you!
You chose what you wore, how you did your hair, went where you pleased, no one ordered you about, and made you do things you didn’t want.
What more could a kid want, than a life where you made your own choices, and we’re your own boss? I mean that’s what being an adult was all about right?
Jeez I wish that I could go back to my childhood self and tell her that one day she would be that adult, and she would be wishing she could be back in the cocooned safety of childhood, with no big choices to make, and no bills to worry about…”Bills?” She would say, “what bills?”
See, it’s far too easy to think you know everything as a kid! And that you are totally sure that life as an adult would be much better!
Oh boy, do we know better now.. As those very adults…!!!
