I’ve written about Magpies before, and this week’s prompt from TJ for his Haiku challenge was a beautiful photo of a lone magpie, with an additional prompt word of Wings.
Whenever I see magpies, that rhyme is in my head, about what the future holds, depending on the amount of birds you see, so this inspired my Tanka-style Haiku this week!
Magpie spread your wings
Fly and find your other half
You need to be ‘two’
I don’t want sorrow today
I need a little more joyRitu 2016

A perfect poem for the picture. We know these little birds as Willy Wagtails but they have the same black and white costume. 🙂

I really haven’t thought of them much–and didn’t realize TJ’s photo was a magpie…will have to ponder this a bit, maybe come up with a poem 🙂

I really liked the poem. Very well done. But I have to add, when I think of Magpies, I can’t help but think of Heckle and Jeckle these cartoon birds:
