Day 17
Pose a question…
Okay, so you have written that fantastic post, poured your blood, sweat and tears into it… yet there appears to be no real engagement.
Here’s a little tip, always end your post with a question related to your content.
Give your readers something to think about, and answer back. It is always a great way to get that interaction going!
And when you have lots of decent comments on a post, (that are answered) people are more likely to add their thoughts!

That’s a very good point. You’ve read my style and what I’m going for – do you think working a question into my log-style entries would be consistent with what I’m doing?

I think you could work one in somehow… A kinda ‘what would you do?’ sort of approach may work but not necessarily every post. 😀

Yeah I don’t think every post would work, but a few times a week I’ll try to pose a question. Thank you! If you ever have any specific feedback I’m all for it.

If I think of something… I’ll let you know!
Oh yes!
Images!
Could you find images to put in your posts? Either your own, to relate to your experiences or others, to break up text. It would be good to create a recurring image, that becomes associated with your posts, maybe a background that you can add relevant title or text to. It becomes a Pinnable image then that can be searched for on Pinterest!

What do you mean by a recurring image? I’ve been putting featured images at the top of my posts – are you suggesting using the same picture for each featured image?

Those are great, but it could be like something with your logo…(create one!) And have the text The Captain’s Log on it. Duly you could add different text like 2nd Jan, 2019 – The One Where the Teething Battle Begins…
Kinda giving a theme to your posts which gets associated with you.
You could create a template on Canva which you could add different text to regularly.
I know it sounds like a deaf, but once you get a typeface and style you like, it’s easy.
And images like that are great to help with sharing and recognition as I said before.
Does this make sense?

That is all incredible advice! Thanks for the tip for Canva – I’m created a logo! Could I email you? I’d love to send it to you.

Good tip Sister 💜 I have seen the response in comments (not my own posts) when questions are posed at the end.

What Words May Come
Dec 17, 2018 @ 13:01:33
Well, there is some good advice! I used to write poems and ask people who read them to give me their interpretation, and what do you know? The multiple views astonished me. Thanks for reminding me of this and to put it on my blog posts!

I am generally no good at this. Once in a great while, I ask a question, or suggest a call to action, but not very often.

Poetry is definitely a hard one Dorinda… I find questions easier to pose after an opinion post. It’s really only feedback we can ask for in our creative posts!

I can’t remember who mentioned it to me a long while back, but it gives a reason to leave a comment, if you’ve read and don’t know quite what to respond, apart from “Great post!” 😊
