The Ultimate Blogging Challenge: Day 2

Sorry it’s late, but Caitlin’s Day 2 challenge is here!

This is going to be based on things that make you happy. It could be something as simple as making a list of your favourite things, or perhaps you could write a poem. It could even be about a certain special person in your life, a close friend maybe. You could write about a memory you share, or just what they mean to you.

What makes me happy…

Happiness is…
…waking up with my Hubby Dearest every morning.

Happiness is…
…watching my children playing together without fighting.

Happiness is…
…starting a book and realising it’s a true page-turner!

Happiness is…
…fitting into my old clothes, without holding my breath in!

Happiness is…
…seeing my parents.

Happiness is…
…a Skype conversation with my baby nephew.

Happiness is…
…singing at the top of my voice in the shower.

Happiness is…
…writing something that my readers relate to.

Happiness is…
…seeing my pupils progress during the academic year.

Happiness is…
…whatever makes you smile!

#SoCS August 13/16 – Cash

SoCS prompt by Linda this week…#

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “cash.” Use it in your post as a noun or a verb… or a name! Enjoy!

Cash, money, wonga, dough…. and all the other names that currency has.

Do we have enough? Do we ever have enough?

Or do we have too much?

Do we put too  much importance on the amount we have?

In this life, it is hard not to exist, in a First World way, without a decent supply of cash.

How many of you carry cash around? Or are you like the Queen, and other international dignitaries, who are above carrying money?

I am always amazed at people who whip out their card to pay for something that is £1.50 or something… I mean really? You don’t even have small change?!

How do you teach children about money, and all that simple financial knowledge, if you don’t have some coins about your person, or if you don’t pay by cash, in front of them?

ATMs, Cash Machines, these machines already make many children think that money is just there. You stick a card in, and press a few buttons, and Hey Presto! Cash in hand!

I find myself reiterating these simple things to my own kids, who still forget that mummy and daddy work hard every day to earn that money that is sitting in an account, behind those machines, and that each note is to be carefully spent. It doesn’t just appear because we requested £100…I wish!

Right now, we are actually saving some cash… redecorating rooms, without paying someone else to do them. I have never decorated before… painting and all, but we are doing this at the moment, stripping the kids shared room, and emptying the study, to create individual rooms for them… And it is amazing the cash we are saving, by doing it all ourselves!

But it is tiring, and sometimes I think.. is it worth it? Wouldn’t it be easier to just spend a little to make our headache someone else’s? The answer… I think is yes, it is worth it! Looking at our own work, and hopefully, two lovely bedrooms, will make us proud that we saved money, and that cash I saved, will be spent partially on a manicure and pedicure, to repair all the broken nails I have already managed to have!

There! Stream of Consciousness has now stopped running!

Thursday Photo Prompt – Caged– #writephoto

Sue’s photo prompt this week.

Excuse me while I go all Fifty Shades on you!

Dom/Sub
Caught
Unable to turn an inch
Imprisoned
Every move, I feel a pinch
Confined
A punishment so sweet
Penned
Spreading body heat
Enveloped
Anticipating touch
Jailed
Can sense you, oh so much
Enclosed
A feeling so intense
Caged
A desire so immense

Maybe this is because I am reading Grey at the moment by E.L. James.

Don’t shoot me!

I read the first three Fifty Shades books when they came out, I had to see what the hype was about with this one too!

The Ultimate Blogging Challenge – Day 1 – All About Me – Ritu Stylee! #ourbloggingchallenge

This time last year Caitlin from A Little Daydreamer held a two-week challenge. Since then she has grown from a relatively small blog, to one with a much bigger follower, and is not just a blogger, but a vlogger too!

And this year, not wanting to disappoint, she has set up a new 2 week-challege for this summer too! It will be a series of prompts, sent every other day, for you to interpret as you wish, or as per her instructions.

This first challenge is this…

I would like you to create something that represents you in some way. It could be as simple as writing a [insert number] facts about me post. Or, it could be a story of something that inspired or influenced you as a person. You could even share a piece of artwork that you feel a connection to, whether it was created by you or not.
The possibilities are endless and you can go as “off-topic” as you like, as long as it has a strong relation to you and lets us get to know you better.:)

So I decided to write this…

Me

Who am I?
I’m Ritu, that’s me
A great big ball
Of contradictions
A 40-something body
with a 20-something mind
A nice little
Eastern girl
Caught up in
The Western world
A girl so proud
Of her traditions
Yet eager to break
All conventions
A homely, happy
Family lass
With an outgoing,
Extroverted personality
An Indian girl
Who can’t stand chilli
Preferring a roast
Or a plate of spaghetti
I’m happy as I am
But I want to lose weight
I love all my curves
It’s the wobbles I hate
A chatterbox,
Talking ten to the dozen
With shoulders to lean on
And ears to listen
A teacher by profession
Yet a scholar of life
A mother, and a daughter
A loving, faithful wife
I know how to be respectful
But I have a naughty streak
I’m both fiery and feisty
But equally mild and meek!
