When your momma tells you off!

Another priceless Facebook find!!

Those from a bilingual family… Do you ever get this??!

It’s that, or when they use your full name!!! If I heard my mum say “Ratinder!!!!!” I knew something was WRONG!!!

And the worst thing, I do it to my two too!!!!! The Punjabi Mum Lyrics come out if they do something truly awful! I guess it shows how disappointed or upset I am at them!!!

But I Smile Anyway...

Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge – Day 1 That was close!

I received a challenge from the lovely Edwina, of Edwina’s Episodes for the Five Photos, Five Stories challenge

I’m about to invite you to join in a challenge I recently accepted. Five Photos, Five Stories. I thought this challenge could present you with the opportunity of viewing blogging from a different angle, to do something different, anything that suits you for that matter. It’s entirely up to you. …

There are some rules that go with it which are as follows:

The Five Photos, Five Stories Challenge rules require you to post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo.  It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or simply a short paragraph – it’s entirely up to you.

And at the end of each day, nominate one other blogger to take part.

So my first photo… And a poem to go with it!

That was close!

Oh kiddies, don’t they love to swing!

“Higher! Higher!” They constantly sing!

The look of joy upon their face

As the pushing picks up pace!

A photo moment of course, you think

And reach the front within a blink.

Forwards backwards, higher they go!

Camera’s ready…Click! Then whoa!

Busy focusing on their smile,

Edging closer all the while,

Until you realise that their toes

Jut very nearly reached your nose!

Ritu 2015

Today, I nominate Marti from Inventing Real Life.

Don’t feel obliged to take part, but it’s a bit of fun! Hope you join in!

More Hula Hooping information, and encouragement!

I have been checking out hula hooping exercises and came across this great article! Hula Hooping in the Daily Mail.

Firstly the lady in the pictures has my hula hoop! And secondly, wow! I am in great hooping company, with Beyoncé and Kelly Osborne all doing the very same thing I am mastering now!

It really is apparently great for mummy tummies! I even got creative and wrote a poem about mine here.!

And I found a fair few videos to get ideas! The Lady on the left keeps dropping hers… so that’s ok to do too!!

And here’s a lovely Hula Hoop Song to listen to as you are rotating your hips!

ENJOY FOLKS! AND HAPPY HULA HOOPING!!!!!!!!

Clumsy me…!

image

This is so me! Seriously, I am like the clumsiest person you have ever met…

I honestly can’t walk into a room without grazing the doorframe half the time.

When we were growing up my brother used to call me Malcolm – Malco-ordinated ( I know it’s not a real word but he liked it… It kinda suited me!)

The sprains and twists I’ve  experienced on both ankles due to me not looking where I was going, or tripping up, or over my own feet.

And though theoretically I’ve never been in plaster, my poor toes, have been broken on numerous occasions! Oh, my little  toes have resembled beautifully ripe cherry tomatoes a fair few times in my past!

I remember slipping down the staircase in my Hubby’s student house one time, when we were at university. Being the typical students they were, they had neglected to change the landing light bulb, and the bannister upstairs was, obviously, for hanging clothes… A shirt had slipped onto the staircase. I slipped on said shirt, and it would have just been a bruised bum and ego, had there not been a ridiculously placed fridge at the bottom of the stairs, (no room anywhere else) and a vacuum cleaner against it. But no, nothing so simple as that, I whacked into the vacuum, or I should say my foot did, and boy did it hurt! Surprisingly the freezer accommodated a packet of frozen peas, instead of being frozen over, and I was sat for ages with the said peas nestled on top of my poor toe.  Oh, it hurt!!!!! A trip to the hospital told me what they always said.. probably broken but not much they could do, except strap it up.

A few months before our wedding, I managed to stub my little toe (again!) into the narrowest pipe, running from the radiator to the floor, tight against the wall (see, that’s how close I seem to veer towards the wall as I walk!) It was sore, but I coped.  The next morning, I couldn’t put my foot down without searing pains shooting up my foot!  Uh, Oh, another break me thinks!  And so a visit to the hospital (again!) proved me right.  It was awful and I banged it pretty hard this time so the bruising was beautiful!!!

There are probably many toe occasions but they all blend into one, nowadays!

I am in a class with little children, and little furniture, and these little children are still to master the art of tucking in their chairs! So I am constantly tripping over the chairs, but its not their fault entirely, I manage to trip over the tucked in ones too! My two colleagues would gasp and hold their breaths at first, but I told them to give up on that, if they did that every time I tripped, they would hardly be breathing!… 7 months later the still gasp, but not as much!

Heck I even tripped up the stairs at an awards ceremony, on my way to accept an award for gymnastics! Graceful to the end me, see! (How I managed gymnastics, and sport of any sort without serious injury, I don’t know!)

But the fact of the matter is, I am so clumsy, and it won’t change! I should really come with some sort of statutory warning!

But I Smile Anyway...

Hula update!

Hula Queen!!!

My hula hooping shenanigans were much read on Sunday,so I thought it would only be polite to let you know whether it’s still going… (Ok I know, it’s only 2 days later, but I have left exercise regimes on the first day in the past, so to still be at it after 3 days is pretty good for me!)

So my waist measured at 35″ on Friday… I shall measure it again on Sunday, after a week of hula-ing, so we can see if there is any difference… See the dedication I have to you blog pals!!! I am doing this for you (and me!) so we can see if it’s worth it!!

I am not changing my diet in any way, I can be pretty sensible with eating choices (until 9pm when the inner Cookie Monster climbs out, and I eat all sorts of terrible treats! Seriously.. I had no dinner til 10pm, due to being busy, and when I sat down, it was with a cup of tea, 2 hot cross buns, slathered in butter and the remnants of a chocolate trifle I have in the fridge!), but before 9pm, I am pretty good, honestly!!!

So far as I know, 4 others who read my post have ordered or bought a hoop, including my mum, who got hers yesterday, and once she put it together, she excitedly called me back to tell me she managed 200 revolutions each way!!! Yay Mum!!! 😄

So how much have I done, and how often…

Sunday and Monday, I did two 5 minute sessions, stopping and starting, going both ways. One session in the morning, and one in the evening, on an empty stomach.

Today, check me!!! I did 5 minutes NON-STOP anti-clockwise, and being on a roll, I did another 5 minutes NON-STOP clockwise too!!!

I will report back on Sunday!!!!
