FFF #23 – Pure Imagination

I can’t believe I’ve been FFF-ing so long! We’ve hit 23 weeks now since Matt at The Book Blogger stsrted this challenge, where we get a prompt song to write a 100 word flash fiction piece.
This week it is a cover of the track Pure Imagination, by Fiona Apple…
Made famous in the original Willy Wonka film, it’s a true favourite of mine!

Check out the prompt here.

Totally broken, I came out of the school.

I couldn’t believe she had lied. All that detail, all those stories, those tears…

I was devastated that my child was going through so much, almost torture, at school and that no one was listening to, or helping her.

In I went, all guns blazing, and really took the Head Teacher to task. My child was being bullied, verbally, physically, and I hadn’t been informed of anything… homework destroyed, lunches stolen…

Only to be told it had been a pure work of her twisted imagination.

It was her who was the bully.

FFF #22 Hello

Tuesday means prompt night from. The Book Blogger, Matt, for a piece of flash fictionnot more than 100 words, based on a song prompt of his choice.
This week, is the new Adele song, ‘Hello’.
Check out the prompt here.

Hello…

A small word, isn’t it? But can be filled with so many possibilities.

The sign of new beginnings, a smile, a shake of hand, a chance that a new relationship may blossom.

And that one word started a chain of events so long, that I almost forget it was that one word that started it.

Bye…

An even shorter word…

3 letters that can gut you.

And gut me, they did. I don’t know what I did, but watching you with your bag in your hand, walking down the path, after uttering that word… I felt my world explode….

FFF #18 – Writing’s On The Wall

It’s been a while, but finally Matt, our very own Book Blogger is back with his 18th Flash Fiction challenge, also known as the Flash Fiction Foray!

What the lovely Matt usually does, is give us a song to work with, as inspiration, and our job is to create a 100 word flash fiction masterpiece, which we post, and ping back to him!

Well the inspiration for today is the new Bond Theme by Sam Smith, Writing’s On The Wall.

And as it is the week of Halloween, I have allowed my mind to wander to the creepy side…!

They looked around the shabby room… no real clues here. Detective Inspector Walsh stepped into the hallway. “I don’t know what to think, really.” he murmered. There appeared to be no sign of any recent life here, yet the neighbours had been complaining of loud banging and shouting, scraping and screaming, over the last few nights.

Just then PC Brown called out “I think you’re gonna want to see this sir.” DI Walsh turned back into the room. A large piece of wallpaper lay, partly pulled off the wall, and there, alongside what looked like bloody scratch marks, were words…

I hope you liked my little effort!

FFF #17 – Skinny Love

Tuesday heralds the event hosted by Matt The Book Blogger. A song as a prompt, and a 100 word maximum Flash Fiction piece! I love thus!
Read more here!

This week the song Skinny Love by various artists…
I must admit I’d never really known this song before… Haunting…

And my effort today…

Thinspiration

“C’mon Love, eat up!” Da placed a plate filled with his famous roast lamb, and all the trimmings. You know, succulent lamb with mint sauce, golden roast potatoes, 3 vegetables, Yorkshire pudding, gravy. It smelled divine. I just want to grab my cutlery and eat it all up. But the voices from the web…”Really? Will he even look at you if you are fat?” “You want those carbs…really?” “Think thin!”

Da was looking over at me, concern brimming from his eyes. “Please love, have some, it’s your favourite.” He placed his hand on mine. “You’re looking far too skinny, love.”

Just a little thought harking back to those thinspiration sites that have been clogging up the web, and the effects they are having on these young girls, and boys.

Hope you enjoyed!

Flash Fiction Foray #14 – Come On England!

Yup yup, it’s FFF time again!

This week The Book Blogger, Matt, has the cricket in mind and has given us Come On England by the Barmy Army.

Check it out here!

Well, here is my offering this week.. Loosely based on reality. My brother was a player for Warwickshire when he was younger, we’re Indian, cricket runs in our blood, apparently, but still I had/have no interest in the game…!  Unless it’s a gripping last few overs!

I buried my head into my book as deep as I could. It was a great storyline, and as I was gripped by curiosity, time and again, the roar from my family would drag me back to reality.

Yup, I was the sole non-cricket supporter, in a full on Barmy Army family. No match missed… And if England were playing, there was no hope.

I couldn’t even slip to my room… My father insisted we sit as a family to support our nation.

But secretly, the lure of those last few balls, even got me hooked!

Come On England!!!!!

Howzat!!!!

Hope you enjoyed it!
