Its 10.45pm and I’ve just finished making my props for story assembly tomorrow!
I like to make stories come alive, not just with the book, but using visuals, and accents, songs and props.
Tomorrow I’m reading Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson.
And I’ve recreated the main characters.
The monkey and butterfly,
And the suspected mummies!
Hope the kids enjoy it… All 180 of them!!
Last week I read Hamilton’s Hats by Martine Osborne.
And I made the different hats!
I wore a headband to slot the various hats into, and the kids loved it!

I can see it now we could all sit round our pc’s and phones/tablets etc on say a thursday afternoon or whenever. You could do a register to make sure were all here. The boys could cyberpull the girls hair etc. And get told off by miss. Then we’ll all sit quiet and you can begin story time with Ritu. Writing this brings back memories childhood was such fun times😊

I love it too! I usually sing the butterfly part the the hush little baby tune, and my kids always loved it… First time I’m reading it to 180 kids at once though!!!

YES!!! We do that too! Anything by Julia Donaldson is great. The Smartest Giant In Town is another good one where you can sing part of the story. x

Thank you! I think it’s key to make them start usieir imaginations… Not all books are picture books, but if I can get them thinking creatively with props then when they read more grown up books with no,pictures, I hope it helps them create their own world in their minds to bring any story alive!!
