Wow! Thanks Judy from Edwina’s Episodes for challenging me to the freestyle writing challenge.
First I would like to outline the rules before I get to my attempt:
1. Open a blank Document
2. Set a stop watch or your mobile phone timer to 5 or 10 minutes, whichever challenge you prefer.
3. Your topic is at the foot of this post BUT DO NOT SCROLL DOWN TO SEE IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY WITH YOUR TIMER!!!
4. Once you start writing do not stop until the alarm sounds!
5. Do not cheat by going back and correcting spelling and grammar using spell check (it is only meant for you to reflect on your own control of sensible thought flow and for you to reflect on your ability to write with correct spelling and grammar.)
6. You may or may not pay attention to punctuation or capitals.
7. At the end of your post write down ‘No. of words = ____” to give an idea of how much you can write within the time frame.
8. Do not forget to copy paste the entire passage on your blog post with a new topic for your nominees and copy paste these rules with your nomination (at least five (5) bloggers)
So, my task from Judy
You are meeting up with a fellow blogger who wants you to show them around your home town. Where do you take them and what do you do?
Here goes!
Welcome to my hometown, a little slice of South Eastern England!
Where would I take you first? Well it depends on how you came! If you came by train, ten I could show you the delights of our town centre, with the Civic Hall, the rows of shops, both open, and boarded up, as the recession has still got a few victims on our High Street.
I would take you to the Prom. We have a wonderful riverside area where there is a café to get yourself an ice cream, or cuppa and then, weather permitting (it is England, after all!), take a stroll along the banks of the River Thames, Kent-style, where if you look across the river, you can see Essex too!
There are parks, and playgrounds to keep you busy, and a pond where people fish too. Something for most ages, and if you are lucky, sometimes the fair is in town too!
Then we could visit the glorious, and beautiful Gurdwara. I would definitely take you there, it is a key part of my life, and if I was to show you where I lived, and places of importance, this would be most definitely one of them.
Then, since we were so close, you would have to come home! A cup of Indian tea, meet the family, and of course, meet Sonu Singh!
I would take you to St Georges Church where the real life Pocahontas was buried…yes really, she existed, and is buried here in our home town!
Drive by my school, and pop in to see the in laws too. Then if you feel energetic, maybe we could pop into the Cyclopark! By the Way, I don’t cycle… I’d be watching you!
There are more lovely parks to visit, oh, and of course the myriad of pubs that are dotted on every corner. Some are more tasteful than others, don’t worry, we’;; go to the better ones!
If you are hungry, we could go to Caesars… you do like Italian, don’t you? Peter Andre frequents this place I am led to believe! Or if you want home cooking, we can do that, my Mother in law always has a great selection if curry ready!
If we had more time, I would jump in the car and take you to Bluewater, the shopping centre 10 minutes away… a the saving grace of this place, when I first moved here…
But since I’ve been here a good 14 years now, I can see there is much more about this town, that is worth living in it for!
Number of words = 431
Time selected 10 minutes.
And my nominees are….
The V-Pub
Erica Kind
Encouraging Life
Sheldon Kleeman
Nutsrok
And you should write about..
The meaning of family…
Happy Writing!
