My Symbol Of Letting Go

The wonderful blogger, and someone I am so happy to call a sister, Erika, wrote a post the other day, all about things that were holding us back in life, and then she found a song that was her symbol of letting go of the situation that held her back.

She invited others to do the same, find something to show as a symbol, and letting go of something we also need to, to make life easier.

Here’s mine.

let it golet it go 1

I really need to let go of one thing in my life, and that is my constant need to please everyone else.  Sometimes I run myself ragged, trying to be there for everyone, volunteering to help, or even putting my own little family second, to please someone else.

Well today I am letting go of that feeling.  I will always be the person I am, but I am actually going to put me, and my little family first.  If someone’s nose gets out of joint, I actually don’t care!  I have to do what is best for us, for me, and hey, I’ll fit the others in around us, but no longer will I move us around to make others happy… (unless I want to!)

This is actually going to be really hard for me, as I have always been the one to be there, and I really don’t want to stop totally, but I do feel that I am taken for granted by so many, that maybe this step back will make others realise too….

Thanks Erika, for giving me the inspiration to actually think of letting go… I hope I manage to do it!

I think you are doing the right thing Ritu. After all, as you discovered recently, for some people what ever you do is just not enough, and when you have already made so many sacrifices for the sake of others who do not even appreciate you, it is definitely time to let go and do things for you and your little family.

It really is Rob, but I need to really action it now… My brain and heart aren’t wired naturally, to not care, so this will be hard for me to do, but I will try to step back from others issues, and deal with mine first!!!! 😊

    Ritu,
From the time I started reading your posts, I have felt this – perhaps you are doing too much ! No one person can give so much of themselves to others without something giving way. Call it my blogging instinct or my physicians or even philosopher’s.
I am so glad you have had a, forgive me- ” reality check” and are planning to give your things first place in your life.
You are a bold woman to have realised this and even bolder to have had the guts to post this.
I wish this would be how your life will be lived for all the coming days and not just for today.

Fingers crossed Susie, I will act on what I have written here… my biggest thing is that I promise myself to too many people, or they assume I am always going to be able to do things because I did them in the past, and though I am the same person, my situation has changed, and I can’t be everything to everyone… but I think its important to do what I can, well, rather than spread myself so thin that I break, in the end.
If you think I am overdoing things again in the future, make sure you pull me up on it!!! 😀

        Ritu,
Thanks for accepting graciously what I wrote in a moment of passion and perhaps outrageously.
I will certainly do that, if I notice it.

No, Susie, I appreciate and respect honesty, totally! ❤
If you are a true blog pal, which you obviously are, then you are able to be open about things, and as your pal, I should be able to take every bit of advice given, and use it to better myself! 🙂
