On our little break, there was the opportunity to horse ride.
Lil Princess was jumping with excitement at the chance, before we even got there!
I told my mum, and she answered that she would pay to see the face of Lil Princess on the actual day, she would probably be so scared she won’t do it! I, deep down, had the same thought, but wasn’t so vocal about it.
Me: LP, well. You haven’t actually been near a horse, or on one properly, you might be scared.
LP: No mummy, I know how to ride one, I learned!
Me: Really??!! When? [news to me!]
LP: I watched it all on YouTube!
Aaah, obviously, if you watch something enough on YouTube, you obviously know how to do it!

I’ve actually been amazed at the educational materials that ARE on youtube, but this can be more of what some call the Cult of the Amateur — anyone can post a video about anything, whether they know the first thing about it or not. Caveat emptor! Let the buyer beware — even if it’s free, it can still be wrong. But it could be true – so how do you tell?

A very valid point! I know as a teacher, my colleagues and I find some great resources on YouTube, but they are checked, verified, tried and tested before exposing them to the kids, but on the whole, you don’t know, I try and vet what my children watch, I have filters on, and they do ask me if they aren’t sure. But on the whole, there is a lot that can be learned, if it is used correctly!

Used correctly it can be amazing Josh! I have also learned the lyrics to most One Direction songs… thanks to the repetitive playing we are subjected to, when she is not learning to horse ride!!!
