What Have I Done To You WP? šŸ˜„

So now I’m spam?
Not good enough?
I know I’ve been quiet
But you’re being quite rough!
I’ve grown to love
This interaction
These conversations
With the writers faction…
But now you’re
Causing such a delay
Even my pingbacks
Aren’t allowed to play!
It’s only little
Smiley me!
I am no spambot
Can’t you see?
Please sort it out
Don’t cause me grief!
Stop being such
A comment thief!

Ritu 2015

Written by a rather frustrated Ritu, seeming my comments go into spam folders with increasing regularity recently, and I’m constantly being moderated…. I feel like I’m at work! Moderates? Sheesh!

So please Peeps, keep checking your spam folders, you never know who may be lurking in there… It could be me…. Or any number of other members of your blogily, not just the lovely spam branch of the family, that you don’t really keep in touch with!!!!

It happens when you put links other than Wp links in your comments section at least that’s what happened with me when I once landed up in some ones spam folder šŸ˜‰

I have had a very similar experience, having my comments moderated at times. I have removed you from my spam folder as I check it regularly. I ended up in Sue’s spam folder as well. Strange isn’t it?!

It’s not me! For real humans to pass my Bouncer, they have to smile (check!) and they must type more than two or three words (none of this “love your site!” drive-by-and-drop-a-link nonsense!) and maybe check a little box… and sometimes, if they’re just leaving their first-ever comment, it might be held for a while in moderation while the Bouncer decides whether they look a little shifty… but I have nothing from you in there!

You’re recent comment on my Photo Challenge post ended up in my WordPress spam folder, Ritu. I check it every day, so no worries that I saved it for you.

I’ve been told that WordPress are doing lots of updates and changes at the moment. I’ve had issues myself with my WordPress account and am in touch with their Happiness Engineers about the problems I am having with my blog. I hope they sort it all out soon.

Oh, don’t forget to check the spam folder of your email account as well. I often find many notification emails from WordPress in there!

They made some change last week that made it impossible to log in via Chrome if you had the Alexa extension installed. That’s been fixed, but I do wonder what they’re up to over there. (It’s one reason I’m happy I’m using self-hosted WordPress. I only discovered there WAS a problem when I tried to update my Gravatar profile and it told me “no such account exists”!)

Thanks for the information Holly. I actually use Safari, as I am an Apple user, and (fingers crossed) have had no problems today. However, my problem has been that I have logged into my WordPress account but have not been able to access the dashboard of my blog as WordPress thinks I am not logged in. Sounds similar to the problem you had with WordPress when using Chrome. I hope they can fix it soon.

Sounds VERY similar – contact @WordPressdotcom on Twitter and see if you can get help that way. They’re difficult to reach otherwise.

I’m already in contact with them via their help page, Holly. They’ve been asking me lots of questions like browser type I use, etc. I didn’t think about contacting them via Twitter. So far they’ve been really quick with responses. Fingers crossed they will sort the problem out.

        Thanks so much.

That’s great! I couldn’t contact them via help because I couldn’t log in (the problem WAS an erroneous “no such account exists”) and you have to log in to access help. I was kind of irked and not about to set up a new account just to access a community help forum. šŸ™‚ You can’t email them without having an account, either. I understand–but at times like that, it’s a bit of a pain.

The problem I have had (and am still getting from time to time) is that I can log in, but when ever I press ‘WP Admin’, WordPress asks me to log in again. It doesn’t matter how many times I try to log in I keep getting the log in page. WP Admin is the only thing where the problem is happening.

They’ve just asked me to download and try using WordPress from another browser and recommend Chrome. I guess they want to see if the problem is just with Safari or if other browsers are affected.

Yeah – t turned out that my problem didn’t show up with Edge. I told them I didn’t want to have to switch browsers just for them. šŸ™‚ But knowing will help them fix it.

My iPad would make me log in multiple times, the. With an iPad update it stopped and I was continuously logged in… Then it happened again.. Then mysteriously stopped again… On safari… Weird!

That’s good to know- sometimes I have wondered whether the ‘spam’ could have been a real comment. Not so much recently, but I will keep that in mind in case comments have gotten caught in spam. Sure must be frustrating for you. Loved your poem!
