Hugh’s Photo Challenge #6 – Unused

Hugh has prompted us with the word Unused as his photo challenge this week. Check it out here.

And here is my entry… complete with my usual poem!

tapesThey used to be

A necessity

Until replaced

By the CD

Once played until

They wore away

Now gathering dust

No one to play

Still I hang on

To my memories

From Pop and Rock

To Soul and Cheese

And now they’re joined

By my CDs

As digital downloads

Take the lead

I loved my tapes

Recorded with love

Now they lie unused

On the shelf above

Nice on sis. Loved the poem. Remember the thing with a pencil to rewind them. Lol☺

Great poem. Brings back memories. Now I have to listen to my tapes again and travel back in time 🙂

I actually transfered all my cassette tapes onto my computer using a gadget I picked up off eBay. It was very simple to do and worth the money. I know it takes time to do but it’s worth keeping those memories, Ritu.

This is a great item for the this week’s challenge and I love how you always add a poem to your entry. I can see you are having fun with the challenge which is what it is all about. Thanks for participating and for making it fun, Ritu. 🙂

Dan and I still have VHS tapes AND a VHS player 😀 People think we’re slightly insane since we’re in our 20s… but they are fantastic movies! My large stereo also has two tape players, and Dan’s car has a tape deck still! We don’t have any tapes, but my parents have a ton that I’m probably going to nab eventually 😉 I remember listening to tapes all the time, I even had a Walkman. Ah, memories.

Love this poem! We still have tapes too. Can’t quite get myself to toss them. Right now I am sorting through decades of negatives. Digital photography is great, but there was something special of having to wait for your pictures to get developed.

Oh…. that brings tears to my eyes…… all my video tapes…. no longer able to play them! All of my records ….. still have them but do not play them anymore, since my husband removed the record player …. Very good achieved, sis…. unortunately 😭

And nothing can replace the joy of pulling out a cassette from the car’s player, the tape wrapped in the spools, trying to save it, and later using the pencil to tighten up the tape, :p

I actually still have tapes from my parent’s wedding time, so they are over 40 years old, and one mix tape with classic old Bollywood songs, is my favourite! I sometimes play it, the crackly sound making it sound so authentic, but I must get it converted… I’d hate to lose the music!
