The day has come….
We find out where Lil Man has his place at school. Amd I am literally a nervous wreck, waiting to open that email…
I just couldn’t bear it if he doesn’t get his first choice!
Three has been such upheaval at school with this whole new curriculum as it is, and he has taken a battering, mentally, and emotionally. At the moment he just feels like he isn’t good enough for anything.
Which mother wants to see their child going through that? I wish I could give him his first choice of school on a plate, and serve him the good news that no matter what those SATS tests say, he will be going where he really wanted to. But I am at a loss, as I can’t influence that decision at all.
I’ll be on tenterhooks until 4pm, which is when the emails will be rolled out. Then I will be obsessively looking at the email app on my phone, until that fated message arrives.
I am trying so hard to be positive, but I can’t help but worry about the flip side. I can be positive, and think positive about everything with regards to me, but he is going through his own changes at the moment, amd every thing is an issue for him. I can’t help but worry that if he doesn’t get his first choice of school it will send him into a downwards spiral of depression, almost. I have had him in tears over the last few weeks, over seemingly silly little things… But they are things that mean a lot to him.
He’s a precious, unique bundle of joy, and we tell him that all the time. I just hope he remembers that.
So please, spare a thought for my Lil Man, and many other children out there, waiting to hear about their school places today. A nerve wracking time for both the child, amd their parents.
I hope I can report back with something positive this evening…
I’m sorry… Just listening to the news…
“Kent had 600 more secondary applications this year the LEA has cut the number of places by a third.”
Ok, if I wasn’t nervous enough already, that has just got to be the icing on the cake!

Fingers crossed. We just go to the school in the area you live in. There are some private schools but you need to be seriously rich to pay gor them.

It’s always so very difficult for them, especially at an age when they can most appreciate an excellent education. I’m hoping and praying for you, Ritu!

Good luck to him. Seems like everyone is fighting a terrible education system these days, so I hope he wins a top spot.

Fingers crossed! My nephew is expecting a similar email. I don’t remember this angst at all, we just went to the nearest school, automatically the same as our siblings. X

Oh Ritu, I remember the moment so well too. It is awful that it can have such devastating effects on children when they don’t get their first choice of school. I am keeping everything crossed for Lil Man. Bless his heart, no child should feel that they are not good enough for anything. You are so right that each and every child is special and unique and should not be valued on their ability to pass a bloody SATs test!
I am sending positive thoughts your way and am thinking of you and Lil Man today, Sis.

Thank you sis… I am seriously sitting here, a bundle of nerves,,p worrying my self silly for him. You know when your child is as sensitive as he is, it makes a parent even more anxious… Yes, I know Kids are more resilient than we think, but still. You never want them to hit too many hurdles, and I think he’s had his fair share…
Fingers crossed… 😊

Hi there, I lit a candle for both of you and all kids out there who wait for the results. I do not have children of my own but am a step-mum and one thing I have learned living with my kids from another mother for a while and remembering my own childhood is: Children a terribly resilient. No matter what life throughs at them they find a creative way of dealing with it. Our task is not to protect them from life even though it is such a great temptation. Our task is to be there and to guide them and to reassure them that the way they chose to deal with things is their way, and it is ok. Your little man will be ok no matter in what school life will throw him.

Thank you so much Bee, your words are really reassuring😊
We just want what is best for our children, and with minimal upheaval. I know life isn’t like that, but in my eyes, my Lil Man has had a hard time recently, and one more knock… Could be so damaging for him… But as his parents, we will be positive, no matter what 😊

Thank you sis… Just watching the news and they were talking about it all, and how out of half a million kids, 80,000 might not get any of their choices… Then if you appeal, only 5% actually were successful…. Now I’m even more nervous!
