How Long??!!

Just a quick one…

I has taken me 3 days (and still counting) to upload all my Helsinki photos to Microsoft Onedrive and also to Dropbox.

Why am I doing both?

Onedrive is best for my PC and Surface.

Dropbox is for sharing the link with my family.

But…

Onedrive is rubbish with its uploading and it took over 24 hours to initially upload.

Then when it was done, I very cleverly moved the file to Dropbox. Yes, you read that right. Moved, instead of Copied.

So I was left with no Helsinki photos in Onedrive!

Then I looked at my Dropbox, and it had created a PC folder with all the photos and videos, but not uploaded to the server. So the links I had smugly sent to the family contained 4 photos instead of 619!

That was yesterday.  When I tried to upload them all together, it told me it would take 7 days. 7 DAYS!!!

I now am sat here manually uploading each file… 38 videos to go…

At least I managed to get the Onedrive ones sorted.

But OMG! How frustrating!

And I bet there is an easier way to do all this, but I am so not tech-savvy that I won’t have thought of it!

I actually stopped uploading on one drive myself but use the windows sync feature on my PC to have it happen on its own. It probably takes a while but I don’t have to sit and watch it happen

I use a card reader to upload photos onto my iPad and Mac. Often hundreds at a time and it takes just a few minutes. Then I back it all up in the cloud and on a external drive. We abandoned Microsoft completely a few years ago because of frustrating experiences. Apple’s not perfect either, but faster for sure! Hope you get it all sorted out! Glad you had such a wonderful trip and have so many photos to remember it! 😀

Time is money…The price of a two gigabyte usb drive is about 50 dollars at office max or best by. I back up my images and videos to two external drives. It’s easy and if my connection ever goes down I will still have access to my data.

And Flickr is great for photo-sharing…you can open a free account through Yahoo.

Do you need a snack after all that? Are you uploading them from a camera or a phone? Anyway, I feel your frustration.

I’m so glad it’s not just me that does things like this. It seems like I am so behind many people of my age (I’m not young, but I don’t consider myself old either, it’s just ME!).

Anyway, I’m sorry you’ve had so much trouble – but it sounds like you took loads of great photos. I’m so pleased you had such a fantastic celebration!

Good luck with it all 🙂
