One Line Wednesday – #1LinerWeds – Vaccination

“If it’s offered, take the vaccination, please.”

Ritu, 2021

A few extra lines to support this one.

It appears that so many in the BAME community, a community of people disproportionately affected by COVID-19, are not taaking up the offer of the vaccinations that are being given, right now.

Why, I don’t know.

Thing is, we will never get ourselves out of this hole if we don’t all do all that is humanely possible, to help the situation.

Please, get vaccinated, and if you have an elderly member of your family, ensure they take up the offer.

I haven’t seen my family in months, and until we get things under control, I have no idea when the next time is, that I will feen the embrace of my parents.

I know many of you are in similar boats.

Pops and I are working with a friend of mine who works in the NHS to help create videos in many languages, with the simple message, to send out to the BAME community, in order to reach those that may not understand, or be fearful of the injection.

Let’s work together to do this.

Keith, it is so impprtant, if we want to get back to any semblance of normality. I know that there are going to be a few niggles, side effects, but that is the case with so much. Surely it is better to try and be safe, than to deny yourself the chance of any protection?

I was careful when the first vaccinations were approved. But due to the information, I have no doubt that a reaction to the vaccination cannot cause only part of the damage that is caused when you catch the virus. But that’s my opinion and I will accept it as soon as it is offered to me.

As the world rushes to vaccinate, there will always be those who choose to try and disrupt – they will continue to be a smaller and smaller part of our world. A year from now, we will marvel at how quickly we were able to eradicate this deadly disease – except in cases where non-vaccine people will continue to suffer and spread it. A sad reality of our world today

It is a sad reality, John, and it is made worse by social media. WhatsApp in the older generation of Indians… they send videos with ‘advice’ and they go viral. People then believe these videos which are not even official, and get scared.
We are trying so hard to turn this around with the BAME community here, where the denial is rife, and that is even with us as a high risk category community!

I will get the vaccine when both shots are available. In the meantime, I’ll keep hunkering down, follow the CDC guidelines and shake my head at those who still resist the necessary steps we all need to take to end this pandemic.

I hope you are able to hug your parents soon, Ritu. ❤

Thank you Mary, I count down the days.
I was speaking to my uncle the other day, and he is a heart consultant in Ireland. His only advice to me was to get the shot, whenever it is offered to me, especially as a teacher…
      Take care ❤

I’m in the group that is authorized for the shot but can’t find one. Sad to think there are those who can find one but won’t take it.

Well said, Ritu. Here in Massachusetts you have to be 75 to get the vaccine. I can’t wait till those numbers change and I’m eligible to get one.

I live in a part of the USA where supporters of former resident Trump have an idiot’s attitude toward wearing masks, social distancing, and vaccination for COVID-19. I had a blood sample taken at the local hospital lab a couple days ago and the technician told me she hadn’t had her shot, didn’t want one, but would probably have top get one to work there! I couldn’t believe it, yet I could: probably a Trump supporter! Every other nurse or doctor or technician I’ve talked with had the shot and take precautions for their health and those around them. Though there are reasonable if tedious precautions to take to minimize our exposure to the pandemic, stupid people help keep the virus spread. Unfortunately, “stupid” is impossible to change. Perhaps the pandemic will thin out the stupid people and make for a better tomorrow. Hate to think that way, yet I am tired of people doing nothing recommended to control the disease’s spread and thereby threatening the lives of others.

Yes, we all have to get vaccinated. Even me thinking too because I have allergic problems but if doctors deal with this, I could be too. This is the only way for coronavirus. Yesterday I read something on the newspapers, Israeli scientists have declared that those who are vaccinated are protected better than expected. among 128.000 people who got vaccinated, only 20 people got the virus… Thank you dear Ritu, you are doing great job, Love, nia

Thank you, Nia. I know of one person who got the first shot and did test positive a couple of weeks later, but otherwise, no other negative reactions. WE all need to get this shot, so we can get back to some form of normality! Stay safe, and take care ❤

I didn’t want to be vaccinated, as I didn’t think they will be any more effective than the normal flu jab, but my family left me in no doubt of their feelings on the matter. So, I was vaccinated yesterday!
